Forums - Gaming - Mario Strikers Charged grinds Nintendo's network to a halt

I´m playing it right now and the first day was the only one to have the errors, since the Wii is the first Nintendo console to reallygo online I´d say its a big succes, so there were problems the first day, big deal, everybody was screaming OH MY GOD THE FRIEDS CODES ARE COMMING, again big deal, if I wan´t to play a friend I´ll get his code and if not I´ll just play a random player who has about as many points as me. Why would I want to chat with someone I don´t know anyway, even I might get carried away and start mooking a six year old, and that would be totally uncool.

dude whats ya code :D i would love to own you haha

Just about every successful online game has had problems during the launch period. This is because server load is so different than the long term average. If they are still having problems a week from now, then I'd be worried.

No, most companies know what they are doing now.

Blizzard had huge issues with WoW when it first came out (and still has issues with big updates, like the BC expansion). It's not uncommon to have issues when things are unexpectedly and overwhelmingly popular like WoW or the Wii.

I think Nintendo did a bad job.  They are too conservative on too many things.  Why not set up more servers than they though they would need in anticipation of future titles?

Every major update to WoW has server issues upon release. It's the most successful game of all time. It's the same with every other successful online game.

If anyone expects to play Halo 3 online release week without problems, they are delusional.

This is not WoW or Halo.  Halo uses hosts anyway, which is bad enough.

So when Home chokes on release day, do I have permission from the PS3 fanboys to bash Sony for being clueless?

Oh, I agree with that. I'm also not arguing with the fact that Nintendo is notoriously behind on Online Gaming. However, the idea I was going for is this: Halo, WoW and Wii are all similar in that they are overwhelmingly and outstandingly popular. Blizzard admitted when WoW came out that they weren't prepared for just how many people were interested in their game; Nintendo has said basically the same thing about the Wii.
