The show overall was definitely better than last year, highlights for me:
- Scorn
- Ereban
- Cocoon
- Wo Long
- Persona
- Kojima

Might also give a try for:
- Forza Motorsport
- Naraka Bladepoint
- Diablo IV
- Redfall (it looked way better than I anticipated and reminds me of Left 4 Dead, but need to see more closely)

Anyway, I think Xbox has quite decent lineup for late 2022-early 2023 for everyone, so this is fine. Yeah, in terms of first party games the late 2022 part is a bit lacking, but after new year there will be Starfield, Redfall and Forza all together so probably not a big deal.

P.S. I think I'm pretty much set for a year starting with Soul Hackers 2 in August, then P5R in October and P3, P4 next year

While I feel 2022 has been very weak for Xbox. Overall, I don't think it has been as bad as people say. I've exclusively been playing on Xbox as well. Horizon DLC, Soul Hackers 2 (got the CE), Persona 5, and then in 2023 with Starfield, Forza, and Redfall. Also looking forward to Saints Row as well.

Share your sentiment on better than last year. They focused on gameplay as a whole and to me it was paced very well. A lot of games I would not have played if it weren't coming to Gamepass. Might even make me a believer out of some of them.

Pretty much the same. I don't have a lot of time to play right now, but this year has been good so far. I update the list of completed games here: https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread/245649/list-of-games-youve-beaten-2022/2/. Now in June there will be AI Somnium Files 2 which is preordered, then Soul Hackers 2 in August and then everything I listed in previous post. I also want to play Xeno 3 on Switch, but this is a bit problematic for me at the moment, so not quite sure about this one.

Come on, something needs to be saved for TGS

You're assuming Xbox actually has a TGS presence this year xD

Let us hope they do.

Why do you think they won't

I'd give the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase a solid 8/10. It didn't have the megaton announcement, but it had a lot of good games throughout. Starfield looks fantastic. Redfall looks like a fun co-op shooter. Wo Long looks like a good mix of Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls. Minecraft Legends looks like something I will enjoy far more than Minecraft Dungeons. Forza Motorsport has some of the best graphics ever seen in a game.

A lot of the smaller titles also look like fun and coming to Game Pass Day One is great. I will be kept busy enough that is for sure.

I enjoy a wide variety of titles from the biggest AAA titles to the smaller indie titles and the showcase had a decent amount of both. Best showcase so far this month.

I hope Wo Long is more like Sekiro, that would be great.

Seems like Redfall is a bit of a misstep for Arkane. It's getting ratio'd fairly hard, not exactly a CoD Infinite Warfare tier ratio or even a Saints Row reboot tier ratio, but it's not great either. I see 1500 likes to 900 dislikes on Bethesda youtube, 2100 likes to 900 dislikes on Xbox youtube, 1200 likes to 500 dislikes on IGN.

Meh.

Looks fine to me.

I'm willing to bet it will be Arkane's most successful and popular game ever released too, Lol.

I think it's just a whiplash because it's not what people expect from Arkane, it and Deathloop are arguably outside of what you'd expect from Arkane so there's uncertainty but I remember Deathloop being dragged before release too and it turned out amazing, Arkane doesn't miss except practically all of Arkane's titles underperform sales wise, Lol.

I think Redfall looks decent it has fast paced combat and the distorted worlds you go in look great from an artstyle point and as we keep saying Arkane games do just turn out good.

I think the way they narrated the trailer wasn't the best I've never really liked that style of a in game character of breaking the third wall and coming across as a little cheesy and I think as soon as the word Co-Op appears people going into a rage about it having multiplayer although I'm presuming this is much like Borderlands or Outriders style when it comes to playing solo or co-op.

I am hoping it is more like Ninja Gaiden. I've been wanting a new entry/spiritual successor for years. Generally speaking Souls like games are too hard for me to put the time into.

I feel the same about Souls games - too hard for me, but I managed to beat Elden Ring without a lot of issues by simply clearing all the available dungeons and side quests. It will be time consuming, but make the game a lot easier. I would even say that Elden Ring is way easier than Sekiro just based on the fact that it can be broken by overleveling, while in Sekiro you really need to get good at knowing every boss moves to be able to beat it.

Well, they'll probably have a presence since they had a presence last year, but will it actually be a proper showcase is the question. Last year's Xbox TGS showcase was basically a big nothing burger, nothing new announced, just rehashes of trailers from E3, an interview with Shinji Mikami, some JP Minecraft creators showing off stuff, and the announce of xCloud coming to Japan.

They had AI Somnium Files coming to Xbox and day one on GamePass announced last year. It wasn't a surprise considering that the sequel was already announced with Xbox as a target platform by that moment, so it was expected, but still. I wouldn't worry much, because Microsoft seems to be using different approach with smaller Japanese games these days - they just randomly drop them on GamePass out of nowhere without announcing it on specific show. Octopath Traveler, Danganronpa series, etc.

I hope not. I hate these ultra hard Souls likes, Sekiro is the only one I have tried so far and I failed miserably, hit a brick wall on both timelines I couldn't get past after trying like 2 hours on each timeline. Team Ninja already has Nioh for that Souls audience, I want something easier and faster paced like Ninja Gaiden out of Wo Long.

I have bad news for you - it's produced by Nioh producer and Bloodborne producer, so the end result is quite obvious. I haven't played Nioh, but from what I've heard it's even harder than Souls

Yeah, I'm sure that more of the JP series I want to see on Xbox will come, it's just that they'll take time, and my patience has worn thin after such a long wait on some of these games/series.

I get it, but sadly some of the games you listed are probably never coming - Sakura Wars for example flopped really hard on Playstation. This game is dead and probably not coming to any other platforms in the future because of that. SEGA won't revisit it because there is no point if there is no interest in the series even on Playstation

I can live with Souls style slow combat with dodging and parrying and such, but I need multiple difficulty settings at least. So far the only Souls likes with multiple difficulty settings are Jedi: Fallen Order, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy, and the upcoming Jedi: Survivor and Black Myth: Wukong.

I found Stranger of Paradise a really hard game, way harder than Elden Ring LMAO. Couldn't get it combat system at all. Good thing it has Story Casual difficulty for someone like me. It's also made by Team Ninja, but I wouldn't get my hopes up that the same will apply to Wo Long, because Stranger of Paradise was targeted towards casual large Final Fantasy audience, so this mode was put there on purpose. Wo Long most likely targets Nioh audience, so I would say that it's quite unlikely there will be any easy mode.
