THE NETHERLANDS

I played it too, it was pretty well done, but I just couldn't help but get bored after 20 minutes of gameplay. The extortion missions are extremely difficult and the save points drive me nuts. This type of save point should never EVER be used under any circumstances. If someone wants to call it a day, LET THEM!!!! Don't make me drive three islands down to do it. It kills your appreciation of the game. All games should just let you save in the pause menu, and just make it so you can't save on missions or something to prevent exploiting. The almost continuous night is really depressing too. The entire game seemed to be built to sap my energy and just send me into a dreary posture. Thus, me not being able to play for more than half an hour. Making it so damn easy to die on a extortion run didn't help either. Seriously why does every barber shop have 20 armed guards in and around it. I also think having seen the movie was a mistake. Seeing the game being so ... uneven while the movie was perfect just made it that much worse. I don't really think I am biased, I love the Wii and I loved all of the GTA games. This one just didn't seem to do it for me. I'd suggest renting this game before you buy it. Some of you really seem to like the game so I guess I might be the wrong audience for it. But it's definately a game that you need to try before you buy.

It is great. The motion controls are great and immersive. A very well done port. I still think the $50 price tag was too high, seeing as the only great thin about the game was the controls, but I gave it a shot anyway. At least pick it up at a bargain price in the future. Or, of course, you could rent it.

It's been interesting to see what happens with Godfather on the Wii -- it has not been a big seller by any means, but I hear it mentioned as a great game on the Internet forums quite a lot. And it IS a lot of fun with the Wii controls -- hand-to-hand combat and gun battles work very well. The driving is also handled correctly - using the trigger and nunchuk to steer GTA-style is much more seamless than shifting into a 'steering wheel' configuration. I suspect a lot of Wii ownership is family-based (avoiding M-rated titles) or hardcore (already played through this port on other consoles). But it seems this one has potential to be a sleeper hit, selling small but steady numbers for a while. I'm curious to see how Wii Scarface does (next month?) as a similar game launching against a bigger userbase, and how the Godfather sequel (Part II, I expect) does when it comes out in the future (simultaneously with other platforms). (Man) (I) (think) (I've) (exhausted) (my) (parenthetical) (quota) (for a while.)

this game has so much potential to be a wii hit but it was never advertised or had any promotional attire at all. it is easily one of the top games to implement the controls and it works fantasitcally. id find myself playing for 3 hours straight on some days. i only heard about it through EB games and im glad i did. i did get my friend to buy it after telling him how good it was and he told his friends and so on and so forth.

If it wasnt for MGS4, the PS3 is unnecessary

I agree, I rented this game and then we had to buy it.  While the basic game is solid, it's the exceptional use of the Wiimote that makes it really fun.  While GTA may be a better game, I personally, can never go back to using dual analog sticks for aiming and seemingly random buttons for actions (tried with the ps2, just couldn't do it).

If you own a Wii, I recommend you at least rent this game.

Yeah, I've put about 20 hours into the game so far, beat the story mode and I'm going after the compounds. it's tons of fun. I love the controls. and taking over businesses is just plain fun.  GReat game, and it should have sold better. I think one of the reasons the Wii version is the worse selling is because the audience for this kind of game, typically looks at the ps2 and X360 for this kind of experience. Nintendo needs a few big exclusive like this to awaken an audience for this kind of experience. Maybe No More Haroes, Project Hammer and such can turn the tide.

The controls make violence more enjoyable than it should be.

I had great fun with this game, my friends all watching me play it, doing the New York Italian stereotype (I'm Italian so it comes naturally), grabbing a lounge singer and shouting, "You're F*CKING TERRIBLE! Stop singing!" and flinging her against the wall by pantomiming flinging her against the wall.

It's immensely satisfying to fling a civilian into a burning barrel on the street or an oncoming car.

I don't know how anyone could not enjoy the hell out of this game: the voice acting is great (and funny), the game is long with PLENTY to do and the controls are better than those in most Nintendo games and are not shoehorned waggle like most 3rd party games. I can see Godfather fans disliking it due to the fact that it's kinda a blaspheme against the original franchise (near the end), but other than that, it's excellent.

I can't wait to see how Manhunt 2 will play after playing Godfather...

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I really want to thank you for showing me this game. The controls are perfect, and specially the violence makes more sense. To push buttons to punch and push people around is something, to actually punch and see all the blood :D, it is much more realistic. I think I might actually buy manhunt, if it is something like this. I really like to grab people and through them around. Although the graphics are not the best, I liked the fact that I made a perfect replica of me running around the streets of NY and beating people up. I just bought it and really don't want to put it down, to bad I have to submit a paper in a month.

Yeah!!! I converted a sale!!!

Where's my royalties?
