Forums - Nintendo - Guys,speculating on the Wii's future 3rd party support...

Wii 3rd party support is already more quantitative than either the PS3 or X360.

Given the benefits of Wii and it's increasing install base, an increase in qualitative 3rd party support is a given.

While it may not match PS2 at its peak, it will be vastly superior to the past few Nintendo generations.

I agree with what you said, however; I think that it will *have* to surpass the PS2 at its peak; PS2 didn't have PS2Ware to boost both the number of 3rd parties publishing, the number of games, as well as lowering the barrier to entry.

While I think if you are talking straight-up retail sales, you are correct, I feel that if we allow the entire ecosystem (even if we discount VC) Wii will end up passing PS2, just because of the lowered barrier to entry.

Do we really have to rehash this conversation every week? Like I said in the last thread I think there's no question that the Wii will receive more abundant third party support, but I think the majority of it will continue being shovelware due to the Wii's comparably short development cycle, and developers wanting to cash in and make a quick buck. There will be a few gems here and there, but there will still be more quality third party games on the PS3 and 360.

Damn it, I always want to post in these topics, but by the time I have read all the posts I see that someone has already made every point I had. It doesn't help that there is no one arguing that Wii won't get amazing 3rd party support.
