Really great sales, only the 6th console ever to reach 100 million.

Homeconsoles, only 4 have ever gone over 100m.
1 PS2
2 PS1
3 Wii
4 PS4
Soon the top3 best selling consoles, will all be Playstation.
PS4 is bound to take #2 spot in that list.
Now, of the 5 best selling home consoles of all time, 4 are Playstation systems.Talk about consistency.

Actually PS4 software sales are abit over 1bn total (currently), according to ZhugeEX (and others on resetera).
PS4 currently has a attachrate of over 10.
Once gen is over, I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up 14+
Its gonna end up as the most games sold ever, on a console, by the end of it (imo).

Ye and even including handhelds, 3 of the top 5 will be PlayStation. They have a very consistent track record of success. Their average sales for a console is 90.6m, that's including the Vita. No other company can say that.
Average PlayStation sales - 90.6m (Over 6 systems)
Average Nintendo Sales - 67.93m (Over 11 systems) (Not including virtual boy)
Average Xbox Sales - 51.5m (Over 3 systems)
Hell PlayStation only have one system that didn't make it into the Top 10.

If we are including all of PS then we should include all of Nintendo =]

Lol, exactly. If we're going to include Sony's lowest selling system, you have to include Nintendo's. Or exclude both, whichever floats your boat.
@OP
Damn. At 6 years and still $299, the PS4 just outsold the Switch by 1.1M units. Guessing Switch must not be doing the greatest in EU if there is still that kind of discrepancy. Still good, of course, just not great.

That is really impressive.
I was wondering how much the older PS models sold after their successors hit the market, and the lowest price point they hit, so kudos for the info. Also, I added the additional info you posted to the OP, since the OP was pretty lacking in detail, like you said. |
With the PS4 not yet hitting a permanent $199 and being more popular than the PS3, I would imagine it should be able to hit at least 12M-15M units sold after the PS5 launches.
