Forums - Politics Discussion - Austria shows the USA how it is done: 6-hour-long video of attempted collusion with Russia surfaces - Resignations and new elections

Hardly surprising. Like any other far right populist, Strache is a total disgrace

Around the Network

I think the comparison to the investigation involving Trump is not an equivalent comparison. In Austria's case, they actually found something. In the US however, they didn't find evidence the Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia. Tens of millions of dollars were spent and the full force of the federal government was utilized and the only crimes that were uncovered were by other people and those crimes had absolutely nothing to do with the investigation. For Christ's sake, there were even FBI agents that had infiltrated Trump's campaign. I'm sure by this point, they know the names of every woman Trump has ever had sex with, what kind of porn he likes to watch and even every business deal he has ever made and yet no ties to Russia other than business deals he might have made as a civilian. The Trump Russia thing is dead. Also, most Americans are sick of hearing about it. If Democrats want to beat Trump in 2020, they should unify and run on an actual platform. You guys aren't going to get lucky like Austria did.

Also, there's something that bugs me. As both an American and a non-interventionist, why is it that so many people in the western world are so offended when Russia tampers in elections but turn a blind eye when the US does it? Since 1945, the US has intervened in elections in at least 81 countries. Russia was one of those countries. Some other countries include the UK, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Ukraine, Slovakia, Albania and Romania. So US or more specifically, the CIA has been tampering with European politics for a long time. With that being said, for those of you who live in any European country, if you found out that your head of state or any other elected official was a pawn of the US, would you demand the resignation of that politician? After all, isn't foreign meddling a detriment on representative democracy no matter who's doing it
