People will love you here for having a British accent. Taking a trip here probably would be a good way to pickup members of the opposite sex regardless of who you are and how you look.

But is that really true? I'm ENglish and I though that was just a stupid thing they put in films.

Bad food, worse weather, Mary fuckin' Poppins.
Does that mean you're looking to emigrate too?

Im actually from the Uk and I think it is truly truly awful. I HATE it. I hate pretty much everything about it. The worse thing is the people, seriously it's a joke. I've had insults yelled at me before for wearing black baggy jeans because that apparently makes me a goth. Or been insulted because I like New Found Glory, which is apparently a Goth band.... the people definetly had never heard them, they are like pop punk.

I've had quite a few friends get beaten up or mugged as well. I even have a friend, who is a girl, get punched in the face by a guy because she asked if it was ok to go in front of them in a taxi line as her friend was sick. She didn't do anything aggressive or yell, just politely asked if it was ok.

I also don't feel safe walking in the Uk at night, pretty much no matter where I am it feels possibly dangerous.

Weather = rubbish. Fashion = horrendous (would you like gap, next or topshop?). Girls = ugly and far too manly, seriously when did girls start being proud if they could down a pint or beat a guy at arm wrestling? Music scene = generally bad. Dangerous. etc etc

So yea I don't live there at the moment (thank god) and when I do go back im going to leave as soon as possible.

I've never ever been to a foreign country and thought it was as bad as the Uk or even close. Japan is far better, thailand is far better, France is far better, Spain is far better etc etc.

The only good thing about the Uk is tv. Where we make some amazing shows. Top gear, black books, spaced, peep show, it crowd and so forth.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

it is true. I know a girl from london who actually hides her accent and has taken on an american accent (which I'm sure is hard to do) because she was getting too many "ooo thats so sexy" comments.

And I see my friends going crazy over any guy with the accent, even if hes old and ugly. Its bizarre.

The only thing that always causght my attention was how 'we don't belong to you' Uk looks.

I always compared it with a group of boys who are playing some soccer and then their is one boy sitting their on a bench doing the stuff what he likes...And don't want to play soccer with the others;..he wants to be his alone and special?

=p.
It's funny how people say that. I read an article about how we seem to think we're the rebels of the EU but in fact we're the only ones who enact all the daft legislation and regulations that the European Parliament passes! Apparently other countries seem to pick and choose the bits which suit them.

Hmm not like rebels that sounds a bit negative...

Just being special uhm in like:

-Ride with cars on the left.
-Don't want Euro and stick with £
- Using other measuring standards (rails, feet etc).

It is not negative in my opinion :).

I've always thought rebellion is a good thing

 Depends for what cause =p.

Any country you live in is shit or any country you live in is ok.

Just depends on how you look at it.

What annoys me, lots, is how people go on holidays / traveling to wherever and then declare how much better that country is to their home.
Of course it flipping is going to be, you're on holiday, you don't have to put up with the trails and tribulations of every day life.

Me, I think Britain's got some strong point (and some very strong points) and some weak points (and some very weak points)
There is no reason for me to move, at the moment, nor is there any reason for me to stay, if something (i.e. job) comes up somewhere else.

Also, what annoys me is when people say "the countries gone to the dogs"
Like hell it has. Unemployment low, very low in fact, government spending in the public sector high. The "it's gone to the dogs" would be fair enough if we were all out of work and living in squaller, but we are not, so stop being so tabliod about it.

Thanks, the most sensible post so far. Seriously, everyone in this country seems to think that it's the worst place in the world to live, it's simply not true.

Obviously the British media and it's fixation on everything bad that happens has brainwashed a lot of people.

I love Britain, apart from the Chavs (who you can easily move away from if you have any aspirations in life)

Not a single person in the thread has said it's the worst place in the world. I can't see many people rushing off to Iraq or the Gaza strip. In the very first post I said I could understand why so many people emigrate to the UK. It's just not a particularly free country anymore and there are better places to live if you are of a libertarian mindset. If you're a socialist then the UK is probably the best place going as it has a reasonably high standard of living, but I'm not and for me it is too authoritarian.

Oh, I'm not particularly aiming it at people in ths thread. But when I'm at home or talking to someone in my family, they seem to think the same 'this country is going to shit' attitude. I try to defend why it isn't a lot of the time, but ignorant people don't listen.

You see it right now, a lot of people think that Britain is the only country having economic troubles. Maybe it's just where I live, where people don't really have any idea whats going on in the real world, I so can't wait to move somewhere less ignorant.
