| luinil said: I agree with Grey Acumen on this one. Hillary could make a case to the Super Delegates and pull them to her side. That will only work if Obama makes another gaff that turns off the general election voter. Not saying that she will win the nod, in fact it is so remote that it is statistically improbable, even impossible. Either way the Dems are bloodying up themselves and it looks like McCain just has to not do anything stupid and he wins. Obama cannot win the general election imho. He is too radical left once you boil it down. |
@ Krik - thanks for the props
@ Luinil - the only problem is ... If Hillary, who's behind in everything BUT supers, somehow gets the rest of the supers, and earns the nod, folks will stay at home. If he wins, and it's likely, it is more than fair. Hillary winning the nod by wooing supers will end in a Red crush - because she'll lose support quicker than a fast girl standing on a wooden porch riddled by termites.
Due to Obama's DISMAL economic and health policies, I have to hope that the Democratic primary goes on as long as possible and that Clinton eventually wins it.
I prefer McCain, but Clinton would be ok. In such an unhealthy economic climate, America (and the world) simply cannot afford Obama. I hope US voters don't get sucked in by his charisma (which seems to disappear whenever he thinks he isn't on camera) to the point that they actually make him president.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
I would love to have McCain win, I think it would be great to have a President with a little fire in him, but I don't think people want a Republican again, not after Bush. That just leaves Obama and Hillary and quite frankly we already had one Clinton in the White House and I think that works against Hillary. Which leaves Obama, I don't know what to think about him. Got a silver tongue and all but all I hear is wind blowing and nothing really substantial, pretty much like most politicians I guess.
whoever has the deeper pocket wins.
It's how gambling goes.
Unless you cheat to win.
And not get caught doing it.
You're not cheating if you're not caught. Right? Right? RIGHT?

Fixed. McCain is nothing more than an extension of Dubya. Hillary is a good liar and Obama actually has done something in politics that hasn't been seen in years - he's getting the average person interested in politics again. His base is a ton of small donors and his message of hope resonates big time among everyone. I've never, ever seen a candidate that made white women giddy, black men proud, older men say 'He reminds me of JFK' and the GOP cringe.
Hillary, while I loved Bill, has lied and just says 'Oh, I'm sorry.' I don't want an old bag (McBush) or a liar (Hill) on the end of that 3 a.m. phone call. I want someone who is coming into the mix without cowboy diplomacy, who doesn't mind talking to our enemies to figure out what's going on and really, really wants every American to get health care - plus doesn't take money from lobbyists. That's a biggie for me. I want someone who will UNITE the U.S., not divide it further.
Seriously, for Hillary to win really goes against the face of belief. She would be the first Dem to come from behind via superdelegates and win the nod. Starcraft, my down-under homie, for this to happen, it would be explained as 'She has the best chance of beating McCain' but it would be a lie because a ton of folks would stay home and show the Dems what the deal is. I am not playing - if she wins it fair, sweet - but after it's all said and done, and Obama is still on top, and the Supers side with Hill, I can tell you for a fact she's lose the White House. The black vote is a major key for any Dem victory. If she wins the nod fair and square, they'll vote for her. If not, they'll stay at home.
C'mon, really, I understand the gripes of the people that are saying Hillary's refusal to stay in the race is in one way or another bad. It may be. It may not. Personally I don't like Obama's health plan and I think Hillary's is better. I'm sure that Hillary has more experience than Obama. I'm positive that Obama is much more charismatic and is better at inspiring people. I question what either is going to do when the recession really hits.
The polls showing who will do better against McCain might suggest something but I remember that Dukakis led Bush after the convention in '88. I think it was a 10 point margin. The polls don't start meaning a lot (somebody prove me wrong here) until about 6-7 weeks before the election, then the numbers start hardening.
And I'm getting sick of the nominee being decided by "Super Tuesday". It used to be fun watching the conventions. I remember the '76 Republican Convention and that was some drama! Reagan's concession speech, at the convention, set him up for '80 in much the same way that Obama's 2004 speech set him up for a run.
I have not seem anyone do a historical analysis that shows tight nominee races on one side are more likely to produce a loser than a winner. If there's some numbers out there please point me to them. And seriously, give me a break, the attacks that Hillary are making are more likely to help Obama. He and his team have to get much better at handling attacks because Obama will be "Swift Boated" and it could be just as effective as it was against Kerry.
Hillary is the whore of babylon and obama is the anti christ. their conflict will continue all the way to the whitehouse, where they will then destroy the world.
Hillary is a lying socialist crime-lord and obama wants to establish a communist dictatorship. Its abundantly clear, if you go back over what they say (obamas wife adds great insight into that as well).
Sadly, John McCain would be the best president and has no chance at winning. Even if he had the votes, the thug mafioso Hillary would have rigged the election.
i would also like to point out that there are far more Ageists than Racists and Sexists and its seemingly socially acceptable.
"I like my steaks how i like my women. Bloody and all over my face"
"Its like sex, but with a winner!"
