Edit: Do you know what's never been done? Beating a portable Nintendo console. It's MS and Sony that need to worry about the increasing power of smart devices not Nintendo. Every modern phone can run 90% of Nintendo's back catalog. Bluetooth controllers turn every device into a 'Switch' yet Nintendo is still sitting pretty. Stronger than ever in fact.
