look at the impact now, As online services shut down on old gen systems, ou can no longer download the game patches etc. Congratulations you are now an owner of broken games on physical media that won't play lol.
I wish more people care about this then they do, then we wouldn't get such shoddy offerings, meaning you are forced to rebuy remasters if you want to play some games. In the long run i'd rather pay an extra $10-20 per game to ensure the storage medium the game is on can be updated with the patches and save files. That way once all their services are off I have a working game.
I believe there will always be a desire for ownership. Once something goes 100% digital then you don't really own it anymore. I don't really own the games I bought on the Virtual Console. Once my console dies, those games are gone.
