Forums - Sony - LittleBigPlanet the "most important game ever"...

as someone who was never any good at creating anything, and never really into it either, I have very little interest in this game. I imagine it will gain a cult following but I don't think it'll be the breakthrough casual success a lot of people are anticipating, I don't see casuals being interested in building levels...

Those not into building levels can simply play the hundreds from everybody else.

I think you're still misunderstanding "casuals."  They just want to sit down and play, not browse others' levels and download the ones that look interesting.  This may end up being a great game when all is said and done, but I just don't see it bringing flocks of new gamers into the playstation fold.

They better watch it with this type of hype. It could create a backlash.

Yeah.

Sony should make everyone that sees the game not have an opinion...

It's Sony's fault that an onlooker said that, their pre-alpha game is too awesome.

The backlash for this will be amazing, since the game shows every sign of sucking, this comment that Sony didn't make will come back to bite them in the ass.

/sarcasm

This game has the potential to lure casual gamers to the PS3, and even wii owners.

this comment that Sony didn't make will come back to bite them in the ass.

You saw the "Sony says 'Big Announcement' on Monday" thread, right? That's exactly what'll happen.

hahah wat a joke.

ummm? i'll wait til after E3 before saying that

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Games that it might be possible to hype as one of the most important games ever:

  • Pong
  • Asteroids
  • Space Invaders
  • Pac Man
  • Donkey Kong
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Final Fantasy
  • Wolfenstein 3D
  • Madden
  • etc.

In other words games that sold (amazingly) well, defined genres, and became iconic ...

Maybe Little Big Planet will be able to (one day) be able to join this list of games, but it has a lot to prove before it makes it there; claiming that it is/will be "THE MOST important game of all time" is so foolish that it discounts your opinion on pretty much every game though.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Little Big Planet ends up being a game like Okami, Ico, Shadow of the Collosus, Psychonauts, and Zack and Wiki which is "super hyped" on the internet and no one buys it in real life.

Madden? Lol.

And SotC broke a million. :P

Actually, it may be near 2 million by now.

Madden has it's own Television show.

Saying LBP is going to be the most important game ever is just... so weird. It'll be a fun game...

but it's not even going to be more revoultionary or most important game of the year. Spore at least will beat it on that.

The only thing that could ruin Little Big Planet would be if their was some over arching bug that prevents it from playing right.

How it will sell will be interesting though.  Plenty of awesome games have sold poorly afterall.

Hype, hype, hype, hype...

By the way, when they say that they're entering the bug-fixing stage in an open, customizable game like this one, I'd wager that there's still quite a lot of work left. This kind of game usually still has quite visible (and not so rare) bugs when released, let alone during development.

Move along folks its just nj5 being negative like he always is, then agian i truly wouldnt know as i do what i can not to read his posts.

Anyways I can see this game being delayed to "early 09." I hope that it doesnt because im looking forward to this game.

Very true.

LBP could very well be the shape of things to come.

Missleading title thread, shame on you.
