On April 26 the Wii launches in Korea, which lead me to think about VGchartz and tracking sales in that region. Although it is mostly known for PC domination, there is a console and handheld market there. I think Korea should be tracked also, maybe in the Japanese market, or its own, which I prefer. With each game having a Korea release date as well, or on the games pages not show a country's release date until one is added.

I know it is hard to set up a new system however since Korea is basically a fully developed country like Japan, maybe it can be done. 

 

Just wondering if anyone else thinks this should be attempted?  Or if you know why it shouldn't/can't be done also.

Are there any plans to make it separate?

it could have been nice to make separate "others" and "Europe", where "others" includes Australia, Scandinavia, Korea and this kind of......

but whatever, at least it is included somewhere....

but you can't take Scandinavia out of others of course
cause Norway, Sweden and Denmark are just as European as France, Italy and the UK are..

It'll be interesting to see how this boosts Wii's lead in Others.

Im just saying Asian and Oceanic countries should not be in the same cat. however i understand why Australia would be but, in terms of visibility id prefer to see Other for asia under Japan if it must be used, sort of how
Latin America and Canada are assumed under America

i don't think some markets are big enough to be put together under a name like Oceania, or Asia excluding Japan, yet

maybe in 1 of 2 years when there are reliable stats out of those regions and those regions are big enough you can take them out of Others..

then you might split Others in --> Europe - Asia - Oceania
or in Europe - Asia+Oceania,

besides America (sorth and nouth) and Japan,
but not yet..

Will Korea be seperated from "others" or is it too small. I would think the gaming market is bigger than, Italy... I could be wrong though.

maybe in a couple of years the industry is big enough and stats are reliable enough to make these regions:


North America
South America
Europe
Asia (incl. Japan)
Oceania


Africa is missing, but I hope they can follow too in the future..


that doesn't mean we won't have these regions sub-diveded of course, cause for example, you will always want to know how Japan on it's own is doing..

maybe next-gen, maybe never, maybe in 10 years.. we'll see..,
but that would be ideal..
