Forums - Gaming - GTA 4 DLC pay $20 for episodes that give you 10 hours extra gameplay.

Ridiculous threads like this not getting locked by one of the twenty vgchartz mods is one of the reasons I rarely bother with the forums anymore...

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

@madskills
I knew I wasn't the only one that thought djmeister was a ps3 fanboy hiding behind his claim that he owns a 360 and apparently all their games. Hell I'll go as far as to say his the biggest of them all at least on this site.

OT: Buying for potential is why most people buy certain things so why is it any different now? Oh yeah because the potential for the best gta4 experience is on the 360. Never mind all the potential as Madskills pointed out that SONY has been feeding us. Gotta love double standards :)

whatever the content will be im sure rockstar is gonna give you your money's worth. just look at GTA4 right now this game is worth more than 60 bucks right now. with a single player and amazing multiplayer to add to the experience.

My 'claim', that I own a 360?

Hilarious.

I do own a 360, and there are a few people that can corroborate that story if you don't believe.

If my addition is correct, that's +2 for the baby ...

OT: I find it interesting that folks on here are claiming the PS3 version is better than the 360 version. If I just owned the PS3, I would be mortified if I had preordered this game and hadn't seen one shot of it on my system. You all are braver than I am.

Lol.

Have you not been online in forever?

The PS3 version has been previewed by PSM3 and IGN, and there is really no discernable difference between the two versions.

Here's the link

And a quote

For the first time, Rockstar gave us hands-on access to both the PS3 and 360 versions of GTA IV. The good news is that no matter which system you prefer, you're going to have a great-looking game to play. There are only some minor visual differences noticeable between the two preview versions. The 360 build is brighter and has slightly more vibrant color while the PS3 build has less aliasing issues. Both display a solid, consistent framerate even during scenes with heavy pedestrian traffic and wild explosions. While graphics whores will find subtle differences to nitpick, the average Joe is going to be happy with either version.

Madskillz, pwned?

20$ isn't too much,i hope it just coming for the ps3,probably not this year

$50M says otherwise ... if you want the episodic content, face reality and buy a 360.

@ Darc Requiem
The thread has been derailed enough, but a few quick points:

Sony secured Crash Bandicoot and other PS1 titles by offering favourable publishing deals, and they didn't have to pay for exclusivity of GTA on PS2 either. As a matter of fact, R* offered GTA3 to Microsoft and THEY TURNED IT DOWN.  If you have evidence to prove moneyhatting in any of the cases you cite, I suggest you present it rather than just making stuff up (which you have clearly done).

The PS3's library is definitely not more FPS heavy than the 360's. Aside from Resistance I can't think of a single one that isn't also on 360. Again, what is the relevance of PS3 JRPGs to the 360's library?

Posting pictures of faulty PSPs won't increase the failure rate, or prevent me from being correct. The PS1+2+P were all within normal failure rates for electronic products. Not that anecdotal evidence means anything, but I don't know a single person with any of them that failed within the manufacturers warranty; I know of at least 10 RRoDs. If you can find factual evidence of failure rates exceeding normal levels, I would be happy to back down. If you can find factual evidence of failure rates for any of them getting close to the failure rates of the 360, I will give you all my money and proclaim you a living god.

DMC4 was multiplatform and therefore irrelevant, HSG and R&C have never been big sellers and certainly were not expected by any rational party  to make the PS3 dominate. None of those franchises has ever broken 3 million, even on a platform with an install base in excess of 100 million.

The Playstation Analog Stick was unveiled in August 1995 and released April 1996, two months before the release of the N64.

I had no intention of listing Sony's many contributions to the gaming world, my example of the Eyetoy was intended to demonstrate ASS MS, which it unquestionably achieved.

I suspect that your examples of Sony "mocking" motion controls, hard drives, and online play are largely the product of your imagination.

In conclusion, don't bother arguing with me because you aren't good enough at it. I feel dirty for even responding in this case. And apologies to the OP for stinking up your thread.

[Incidentally, the only Playstation I own is a PSX that only works if you turn it upside down.]
