Is that good?
1.4 mil in anywhere else is horrible.
Hasn't the DS had weeks where it's sold 1.4 mil?

Japan PS3 1 year & 6 months = 2.05M
Japan Xbox 360 2 years & 5 months = 0.60M
South Korea is a pure PC dominated country.
Nintendo of Korea is a 'young' company, less than 2 years old!!!M'kay http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/03/nintendo-of-korea-opens-july-7th/
This momentum has largely been maintained since then, and Sony has done little to answer it. Ask any retailer at Yongsan, and they'll tell you that for the past six months, sales of DS games have been their biggest source of income. (As Yongsan merchants generally sell hardware for less than its MSRP, all profit is made from other transactions.) On that note, it'll be interesting to see what kind of reception Sony's PSP Slim gets upon its Korean release later this year.

Is is big on console/handheld? Yes
Compare with PC? Hell...No!!
Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses
"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

Why not compare Japanese Sales of DS to Korean Sales of DS? Why use PS3 which is dying in japan, or XBOX 360 which was Dead on arrival?
The DS did 4 mil in Japan in 1 year, and this was Pre-DS lite...
Post DS lite... you already know the story.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that DS and Wii are launching/have launched in Korea, I'm just kind of miffed that 1.4 mil in 1 year and three months. When good weeks worldwide are 1.4 mil.

Check my new info.......
anything compare to Japan DS is shit, it has the highest number sales and even surpass PS2, almost 1 out of 5 people has a DS!
It is the biggest in Korea, currently it has the highest both HW & SW sales in current gen console/handheld...... so you can know that how shitty others are.....
Some more comparison
Italy only 1.5 million sales with 58,147,733 peoples, already with 3 years & 1 mths, so can you imagine how good DS sales is in a PC Dominated country???

korea sales seem pretty high, it aint a very big country
Korea is PC gaming territory. 1.4 million for a handheld is a very good number there. I mean we're talking about the country that made hellgate london a success. The country thats sold around 5 million copies of starcraft. Yes nearly 10% of the country own starcraft. Its not fair to compare it to Japan as Japan is totally console/handheld dominated.
Yes S. Korea is a PC gaming Mecca, but so is Germany. The Wii and the DS have proven in other places they can coincide with PC gamers (Just ask, Nazintips, Bod, and SSJ)
The Wii will do very well there. I am curious as to how many console they will launch with? 50k? Oh well, I hope this helps Z&W sell alot. Again it is a Point and click adventure and may strike a cord with PC gamers there.
Oh, BTW- when are they launching in N. Korea?... ok, was not funny...
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
