the software sales are really something

Compaired to what?
"Last Quarter the PS4 sold 40.6 million units of PS4 software"

Nintendo Switch has been around like 2 years now, and its sitting at ~87m.
PS4 in 3months did half the total of the Switch? unless Im misunderstanding something here.

Switch is selling software, but not at a insane rate.
Hell even if you take  86,93m Software sales and divide that by the users 18.3m thats about 4.75 games pr switch owner.
And alot of these are small budget indie & A/AA type games.

Download only titles are not included on the figures.Plus he is talking about this quarter performance, not overall.

And was the PS4 doing similar numbers in its second year, during this period?Genuine question.I tried to look around, but a quick search led to nothing, and I dont have time right now to do a more through search.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Just shy of 20M. Hope they can meet their aggressive target for the FY.

Not too impressive. This holiday is going to be very telling of the future of the Switch. I still think the lack of a 4G option, and non gaming priority functions is going stop this thing before it really gets started. The lack of 4G will be even more prominent once their online service launches. What good is a Online Gaming service, on an Unconnected Mobile device?

At any rate, nothing to really say about this quarter. The next two are going to be very fun though.

Because it surely didnt get started already

*sigh*

It did indeed start already .

But he does have a point that the NS is stalling a bit in momentum. The NS needs a big blowout in the holiday for picking up more AA or even AAA support for the years to come. Chances are very good though it will, but nothing is sure in live.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Momentum is diffidently slowing down for switch, last year if there was stock, would make this years numbers look pathetic. Interesting note Europe combined with ROTW has out shipped the americas for the first time by 30k.

Agree, if there was stock, ps4 with MHW would sold 10 million already in Japan

Also Labo did 1.39m between both packs.

Now we finally have the numbers for the comparison on that thread Labo vs GoW =p

But I guess a lot of people weren't expecting more than this before Holiday

Those 1-2 Switch sales are a travesty.

BOTW has moved 9.32m now on Switch alone it's pretty much at this point going to sell 10m on Switch alone at this point, we know from prior Japanese sales thread the Wii U version is at around 2m in total meaning LT totals in the endhave a good chance of hitting 15-16m. Splatoon 2 is a monster heading for 7m and the franchise is not even 5 years old it could hit 10m LT when it's all said and done, Arms hitting 2m is some achievement as according to numbers here that's above both SFV and Tekken 7 at retail.

Download only software is not included in Switch's software numbers so a lot of indies and etc games aren't even included in that and not mention the difference in the size of the install base and maturity of the platforms.

i dont agree. A 4G switch would cost more upfront plus the monthly payment to the service carrier.  It's 2018. there's public wifi at a lot of places now, and you could just share your 4G connection with your phone and not having to pay another account instead. And what non gaming priority ? the switch should not have non gaming functions. there way more convenient way to browse internet and bigger screen to watch netflix...

That 20M goal just got harder to reach. 18.12M to go in just 9 months. Even if it beats the rest last year's quarters by 1M each (or just the holiday quarter by 3M), it'll be over 2M short of its goal. Either Nintendo drops their goal or they come out with some great deals for the holiday. And I mean a small price cut, not just bundles.
