I've also heard that SotC2 will have a multiplayer mode, if that's true- GOTY 2009 confirmed! I'd rather stay out of this argument everyone's having but I don't agree with your first comment- GoW3 and FF13 never had 2008 release dates, so technically they aren't really delayed. You also said "Now the games are all coming in 2009" which is hardly true. What about MGS4? Tekken 6? Resistance 2? Motorstorm 2? LBP? SOCOM? PS3 has 2008 won with those games if you ask me. And 2009 is looking equally awesome! Edit: Also, a new Syphon Filter is coming out next year! |
HOW DA.......cough...lol. At the risk of depriving this thread of what little dignity it has left, I will not take up the delaystation issue with you. We've not seen any real benefit to Blu-Ray so far. By that I mean, there isn't a single example of a comparable (mulitplatform) game being limited by DVD or a third party saying that a game cannot be done on the 360 because Blu-Ray is required. As such, if L.A. Noire remains exclusive, I'm sure it will be for financial reasons (moneyhatting) rather than technical reasons. But I agree that Sony has a far stronger line-up this year than they did last year, but you only need to check out the 360 exclusives thread to see that Sony is far from "winning" the year. |
Starcraft, just because we haven't seen any real benefit to the blu-ray yet, doesn't mean developers can't use the blu-ray for what it offers. Afterall, all that extra space can easily lure a developer who knows their vision and can tell that they need this extra space. So if it is true that R* have plans to "fill a BD", it is perfectly reasonable to assume it wont be on the X360.
About the multiplatform games, it's true that they aren't "restricted" by the DVD, but I'm sure that some of the games would have been different on some levels because they weren't restricted by space.
But then again, you can never showcase a console by showing games that are multiplat, because the developers usually strive to make the games look and feel the same on both consoles.
EDIT:
The_God_of_War said: I think PGR4 had some some weather effects or a day/night cycle removed because of DVD limitations and Epic said the 360 version of UT3 would have less maps than the PC version due to space limitations. I'll agree Blu-Ray isn't necessary RIGHT NOW, but one day it will be. R*'s next 2 games are PS3 exclusive and I've heard rumors that Sony are looking to acquire a new developer. I'm sure you can put 2 and 2 together. And I also have a 360, so I know exactly what's coming out this year, I just prefer the PS3 line-up. In terms of games, Sony have 2008 won as far as I'm concerned. |
Good one about PGR4, I had completely forgot about that!
