From the finnancial report seems like even though PS didn't meet the goal they still had a strong year. And considering the reason for lower revenue was put on less royalties from 3rd party I think GT7 and HFW must have meet their target.
Also we can see a lot of investment on every Business Unit, and strong free cashflow.

Ideally? Sony acquires Capcom and Square Enix.

They would get tentpole IP, legacy content, multimedia utility, a diverse catalog, and popular multiplayer games. This is essentially organic growth on a much larger scale. It would ensure Sony has enough content to maintain/attract a platform of 100M+ users even if they lose publishers like Ubisoft, Take Two Interactive, Warner Brothers, etc.

As long as Microsoft/Tencent/Amazon/Embracer group don't get neither Square Enix or Capcom these 2 developers really will fit Sony. Chrono Trigger remake will be a dream I'm giggling like a little school girl thinking about it like Final Fantasy 7 Remake but the graphics explode like Horizon Forbidden West. Also revive some of Sony own amazing Excellent JRPG's I love like Legend of Dragoon and Wild Arms series and Dark Cloud.

One thing to consider about Capcom, other than their thriving success in recent years thus substantially raising the selling price, is that it's a family owned company, which don't typically like to sell. The founder and CEO of Capcom, Kenzo Tsujimoto has 2 sons, Haruhiro and Ryozo. One of which is a President and COO at Capcom and the other is a Producer of the Monster Hunter franchise. We have to assume that Kenzo, who is currently 81 years of age, wants to pass the company down to his sons, who both already play a big part in the company's success.

But, that tone can definitely change though if the sons don't see family ownership as that important as their father does.

I would lose my MIND if Chrono Trigger received the Final Fantasy 7 Remake treatment, which by all means Sony should make it happen, but I have a feeling it'll get the HD-2D treatment. Which, ngl, the Live A Live remake looks fantastic in that art style!

Technically, PS5 did meet the revised projections lol. It will be interesting to see how the stock situation evolves throughout 2022 though. The CFO of Sony said the 18M shipped figure for FY22 is a conservative estimate.

I personally wouldn't want to see Square Enix work on dormant PlayStation IP's if they were bought out by Sony. Same thing goes with Bungie and making them work on older franchises like Killzone or Resistance. Leave the remakes to Bluepoint lol.

Santa Monica just posted about available positions at the studio. This honestly seems like too many open Senior level positions for a game that's supposed to be releasing this year :(

^ Sony are hiring across the board and expanding their SIE studios. Its the same with Insomniac etc.

I definitely would expect that amount of hiring for Insomniac because the studio just has so many projects, but Santa Monica takes at least 5 years before releasing their next game. Hopefully it's for a future project then that Cory Barlog is working on.

With Ragnarok being the end of the Norse story, I personally would love if Santa Monica takes GoW into Egyptian mythology next!

Who said these position are for GoW? Cory is directing an unnanounced IP.

Since Cory is busy with another game they are probably gearing up for that and most likely another God of War game after Ragnarok. Maybe they want two teams on full production working on games. Iirc Insomniac have two full teams, and so do Naughty Dog. They (SMS) have around 250 employee's atm. Insomniac 400+, ND undisclosed but they hired out a lot of studios for TLOU 2. I'd assume they are pretty big too.

But yeah backing a winning horse especially after the big success of GoW (2018) wouldn't do much harm one should think.

For the next GoW.. I'd also love that, I really like the ancient egypt setting.. and going by the first game its a high possibility that could happen. Another one would be ancient Japan. Though with Ghost of Tsushima that's kinda already covered xP
