I'm cautiously optimistic about The Quarry.

Supermassive had a bunch of floundering releases after Until Dawn, so it's finally great to see a spiritual successor to one of the most underrated games of the generation, in my opinion anyway. I'm hoping Supermassive can expand on the multiple endings/branching pathways to have as much flexibility as Heavy Rain. It's what makes the heavy QTE elements work in games like this.

It does look and sound like a return to form them them. I loved Until Dawn on PS4 and agreed it was kinda overlooked, and their recent anthology never quite reached the same heights. What I love about these games with branching stories and that the smallest of decisions can lead to different outcomes and endings for characters and overarching story.

Btw you should try House of Ashes.. While not quite to the level as Until Dawn, its really good imo. For me definitely the best of the recent Anthology and an interesting break away from the Teen slasher/horror they are known for. Its been out a while now so it can be found discounted a bit.

Conversions for existing vouchers for PS Plus once the new service is live -

Sony..

If this is the conversion for people currently subbed, this will be my last PS console (and I've bought all of them and spent thousands in their ecosystem over the few decades. No jk, they can eat it :P

Yeah just read that.. I still don't know the management for this generation of PS has so bad. Its been a real shit show in terms of communication that it just feels like they're making it up as they go along and its getting old tbh. Why not just lay all this out from the reveal. Its so dumb and confusing for consumers. Meanwhile on MS or Nintendo, its all there.. like buy it, and you're golden. Not any of this..

I certainly can agree that they can improve a lot on their communication. We don't need "weekly" interviews like Phil gets, but whenever they are talking about something it should be clear and show what is being proposed.

PS5 stock is definitely improving. Over the last 2 weeks it has been in and out of stock every other day at my local best buy in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We haven't had much stock at all in the last couple of months but things seem to be on the upside. They even had a restock earlier today and still in stock. So if a little island in the middle if nowhere is getting PS5's I am assuming stock is getting better in the high selling regions.

I'd rather a third party studio like EA get them.. Sony can do better imo for a few Bn. Plus no IP's doesn't make it a great deal..

Matt has some insightful posts on ResetEra about Warner Bros.

WB Discovery has a lot of debt. They're more likely just to do cuts, but they're seeing if anyone is interested in taking their studios.

But in the past they were asking too much money, that no one thought their studios were worth it, even Microsoft declined.

It sounded like Warner Bros would rather have like $4 billion instead of the studios, but at the same time they would rather have the studios than $2 billion basically.

May or may not end up happening.

I do think it's interesting that Sony acquired Bungie for a similar price tag, but feels that WB would be too expensive. But maybe that's changed now.

True but also worth noting that 1.2B of the Bungie deal is to be spread out over a number of years (2/3 after the first 2 years) for developer retention and not part of this years fiscal budget. 2.4B is what they are paying for the Bungie deal this fiscal year.

Why a Warner Bros sale is unlikely to happen:

Can't say I agree.

WB studios have been vastly more successful, and I don't think CD and Eidos have many high profile IP outside of TR, if any.

The thing with WB is that it's nearly all licensed IP's in their games. So the only thing any buyer of WB's gaming division would be primarily getting are their studios. Unless they really wanna pay a pretty penny for those licensed IP's.

The deal did also include IPs Deus Ex, Thief, and I believe (may be wrong) Sleeping Dogs. Along with Tomb Raider. Square severely mismanaged these studios by a long shot. These IPs, while not enormous blockbusters, have insane potential to thrive again. The original Deus Ex is one of my all time favorite games and still holds up today. Way ahead of its time.

I'm sure there's value in the ownership of IP, but that's not necessarily what's coveted.

Consider Sony's acquisitions of the last couple years: Insomniac, Housemarque, Nixies, FireSprite, Fabrik, Bluepoint, Valkyrie, and Haven Studios: none of these came with any established IP.

Because, development infrastructure and developer talent are more important.

Good point!
