So Dave Lee has put up his review and he customised his PS5 with a Spiderman theme.

Have to admit I'm temped to do the same (though not Spiderman), but not on the official shell. Maybe once the cheap third party comes out with some shells..

Unfortunatelly Sony threatened a 3rd party that was making covers and they closed down.

Initially, my 3 biggest wishes for PS5 were better cooling, longer controller battery time and faster download speeds.
All 3 have now been confirmed.

This is very good news, those were my major concerns too. Given that the controller design is being so well received as well, Im very much pleased with everything im reading so far.

That's why ubisoft deleted that article. They were always compatible.
Also a fantastic example of fake information. Even after ubisoft deleted it people constantly brought it up.  Hell Jason response was just "yeah but ubisoft, Sony is sus" etc etc.
They put out a sourceless article and deleted it - yet the people "concerned" by the article never addressed it being deleted.

Yep, it is just that at this time we have no idea what the issues may be (and also if similar ones may appear on Series), as DF put, it could be small glitches, some graphical inprecision somewhere, etc, hardly anything gamebreaking.

True. What surprised me though was hearing DF's John Linnemann after having played some of these Ubisoft titles saying: "Now the thing is, I haven't actually encountered any problems with these games. They actually seemed to run fine. So I'm really not yet certain what these warnings entail." (link)

We learned that they were bootable but I at least expected that any issues would be noticeable pretty easily. It seems so weird that Ubisoft would list these games as not supporting BC when they're running fine.

@DonFerrari I'll wait for some good copies from Aliexpress or Ebay. There is surely going to be custom licensed stuff in the future.

If Sony sells them themselves at a reasonable price I'd go that route instead

Lots of new PS5 stuff for me to watch today.

I watched the IGN review, which scored the console as an 8/10. I see what they are trying to do, given that a console early in a gen does not have the same advantages as a mid-gen console revision, such as an established library of games, cheaper parts, and more reliable hardware. However, I think this is bullshit.

In my experience, without exception, getting a next-gen console right at launch has always been a 10/10 experience. This is what we are going to be gaming with for the next 6+ years. I'm 32 years old, but the day I get my PS5 is going to feel like Xmas morning as a kid. It will create memories that I will never forget.

I just don't see the point in trying to "objectively" give a score to a console during the time that everyone is hyped as all hell for it.

I'm certain there will be plenty of official and non-official plates for reasonable price.

@RaptorChrist I get your point. I'm not the biggest fan of the PS5 bulky design but apart from that, it's been an almost flawless stream of positive information. Even those BC titles that should have issues seem to be running fine (based on the games Digital Foundry played). Couple that with perhaps the strongest launch lineup ever for a PS console.

However, I do think an 8/10 sounds reasonable because how else would we be able to reward PS5 with an even higher score if for instance it had had full BC with all PS generations, support for SSD expansion and 1440p displays day one, etc. I know I'm nitpicking but I like it when reviewers take the small things into account.

I don't think those deserve points taken out, because if it did them previous console scores would have been sub 7 or even 6.

Just going to say that giving number scores for a console review is fucking stupid. It's even a bit questionable with games, but at least there, we have enough examples to give some kind of idea of what a "7" means as opposed to an "8".
