Sony Europe has confirmed that PS5 won't support 1440p displays at launch (link). Hopefully it's something we could see later.

Doesn't affect me since my TV is 4k and rarely someone tv is 1440p, it is bad for PC gamers though... doesn't it mean the console will output 1080p and the display will have to upscale?

Doesn't affect me either and yeah, people with 1440p displays will just upscale from 1080p.
Still, it'd be nice to have and it should be pretty easy to implement.

Yeah sucks since there is a lot of PC gamers with consoles who play on monitors and it wouldn't take much to implement. Going to make do for now, but not optimal :/

ethomaz would be really happy, Knack can be played at 1720p60fps on PS5.

And Digital Foundry is really happy with the BC on PS5.
