Forums - Movies & TV - Westworld Season 2 - Nolan & Lisa Joy Should Be Ashamed

I still have a hard time accepting that the same creative minds behind the first Season totally dropped the ball with the second Season. S2 of Westworld has so much cheese and underwhelming plot twists that it almost feels like they filmed the show and wrote the script at the same time.

You know, when every major character is secretly a "host", the reveal kinda loses it's magic and becomes a cliche. William? A host. Williams daughter? A host. Like? WTF? That's so fucking stupid, and the reason behind this was because he was sterile? That's totally opposite of the element and dynamic of his character that was struggling with a sense of purpose that was so masterfully captured in the scene where Dr. Ford talks with him in the bar with Teddy. And don't even get me started on how forced the introduction of his daughter is for Season 2.

Also, HOW THE FUCK DOES BERNARD STILL RESPOND TO "CEASE ALL MOTOR FUNCTIONS" WHEN DR FORD GAVE THE MACHINES FREE WILL AT THE END OF SEASON 1?? Like, uhh, hello? Lisa Joy, Johnathan Nolan?

And honestly? Lol at the finale where Dolores is inside the other black girls host body. That's just dumb. And so was the emphased importance on Abernathy despite him being no more than a footnote in Season 1. And so was Maeve getting shot by DELOS security despite being cunning and smart the whole time before letting herself get gunned down like an unaware braindead idiot. The story writers sacrifice was typical Hollywood cheese. The Ronin world episodes were totally pointless in the grand scheme of the plot.

Oh, and the event chart/skipping with Bernard wasn't clever or smart. Its stupid and forcibly convoluted.

Ermagerd1?1? The hatz are reading the guests mindzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I'm so done with Westworld.

Around the Network

I agree the writing this season wasn't as sharp or focused as the first, but you misunderstood the ending. William was not a host, and I'm pretty sure his daughter wasn't either. The dude was paranoid out of his mind to the point where he shot his own flesh and blood daughter just because he THOUGHT she was a host and part of Ford's "game." The whole scheme with Dolores-as-Hale at the end was one of the better written twists this season if you ask me.

Bernard responding to "cease all motor functions" stumped me, too, and Ronin world did seem kinda pointless in the end, though I suppose we did get some character development from the whole ordeal.

I agree they butchered season 2.
Also it felt "final", like I dont expect there to be a season 3.

If dispite my thinking they do make a season 3.... Im not sure i ll watch it.
They basically went from "genius/great" to below avg show in a single season.

And theres no explaining away the twists and turn of events season 2 took, by makeing a 3rd season.
