With the huge success of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I have to wonder why Konami hasn't remade Keyboard Mania for home consoles? Or Drum Mania or Guitar Freaks? Why have they abandoned this genre?

Even with only two octaves, this game must be freakin hard.

I played drum mania (lost in a matter of seconds, cool game though) and guitar freaks (Heavy ass guitar + 3 buttons = fail) and those japanese pops that they had made me cringe my teeth.

Of all the music type games, I would imagine that keyboards would translate best to the real thing. And it doesn't seem like EA or Activision have any plans to add a keyboard, even though it would be pretty easy. Maybe Konami owns the patents?

I think a keyboard game would defeat the purpose of it being a game. If you aced the keyboard you would actually be able to play the real thing. It would be 10x as hard as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. They would translate just fine to the real thing, but I don't think people play these music games to get a sim experience, otherwise they would probably pick up the real thing and learn it.
