I don't know about you guys, but from the first sentence I sensed a whole lot of sarcasm. The first paragraph sounded pretty sarcastic to me, but the second one left me unsure. I still think it's a joke. If it's not, it should be.

I mean, you'd have to be rather *special* to complain about too much gameplay. Edit: Lol, I replied to myself. I'm the *special* one. Haha, I'm such a moron....

Argument about cutscenes? My post isn't argumentative, I'm pointing out that I was disappointed in MGS3 among many other things because of the extended gameplay sections. I thought MGS1 and 1 were perfect in this regard . MGS3 just didn't feel like a real movie compared to the first two and that is a quality I greatly value in my video games.

It certainly seems argumentative because you are espousing a position that is largely unpopular or, in my case, simply unheard of.

I've never heard of anyone asking for less gameplay, more cutscenes. At least in games. That you play. While the original post was certainly phrased as a question, it's so uncommon for someone to hold such a position that the argument is implicit in the question you just asked.

Consider this example to highlight the point. "Are you guys afraid that the US will stop using as much foreign oil in the future?" This question automatically assumes that using foreign oil is a good thing -- something I believe virtually everyone would disagree with, and a person asking such a question would reasonably know that most people would object to the assumption outright. It's the same principle here.

Cutscenes are great... but they are like the frosting on a cake... gives flavor and makes things more colorfull... but if you have just as much frosting as you have cake then its just imbalenced IMO.... in conclusion: I like videogames and cake.

i think most ppl would want more gameplay
isn't that what video games are all about?

You make a point, but my post wasn't intended as a general statement concerning all video game. I realize mot people do not play games to buy movies. But MGS games in particular I think started out more as interactive movie than games per se and that is a quality of the series that has pulled me in and kept me with it to this day. I've been playing game since the NES, but in recent years my interest in video games has plummeted except for one franchise, MGS percisely because of its' movie like qualities. It just feels more sophisticated and targeted toward adults when compared to games such as Mario galaxy. I don't have a problem with gameplay in any game except MGS, but in MGS I prefer it staying the MGS2 or MGs1 way -half-half, making for a movie that you are in control of.

@billy07,

- if MGs4 is similar to MGS2 it is because of the story scale more than the gameplay/cutscene ratio

- MGS4 gameplay improvement does mean MORE gameplay,
it means BETTER gameplay, DEEPER gameplay.

- whatever, more gameplay = longer game = better game

Time to Work !

i like the FPS option in mgs4. i found teh shooting in mgs2/3/1 fucking hard.

it gives you more choices

I'm sure I'll be more than happy with whatever Kojima give us.
