Forums - General - Should Cardiff FC be allowed into the UEFA cup?

It's a hot topic at the moment in British football. Cardiff, a welsh club, has qualified for the UEFA cup through the English FA cup. However the rules are unclear wether a club can qualify this way or not.

As an Aston Villa fan I hope they are not allowed into to play in the UEFA cup as it will open up an extra space that Aston Villa will probably fill.

Yep.  I think they should be allowed to.

are welsh teams allowed to qualify?

are championship teams allowed to qualify?

Championship teams are allowed to qualify if they reach the finals of the FA cup or league cup. The problem is with welsh teams, because they are welsh they might not be able to qualify for Europe through an English tournament. The rules haven't been established because nobody thought it would ever happen, but this year it has happened.

ok then if there are no rules they should be allowed

the welsh/scots get screwed to much by english lol.

I dunno, scottish clubs do very well in Europe, they essentially give us 2 good teams extra to support in the champions league each year.

dont the welsh have their own serpate league?

^ Yes, but Cardiff play in the English league as they are too good for the welsh one. I think the welsh league has two champions league and a uefa space. I think they should fill one of them spaces.

Sure why not, portsmouth are only in the final due to poor referring back in the quarter final. They dont deserve a UEFA Cup place.
