I do not know why I was cheering Mexico to beat Germany. I am glad Mexico held on for 1-0 win. Likewise in Brazil- Switzerland game, I so wanted Swiss to beat Brazil. It gets boring seeing the same nations win all the World Cups.

People are getting too overboard with a first match mediocre performance. Both Brazil and Germany had mediocre performances but both the Swiss and Mexicans are good teams. At least I know that Brazil has had a good and serious preparation and have seen it become a team that doesn't just rely on having good players like they did in WC 2014 and both Copas Americas, just judging from one match isn't enough.

You could see they got overconfident and just started working when Switzerland scored the equalizer, it's better for them that this happened in the first match.

I also don't see this result as them trying to avoid Germany, I'm not a fan but even I know Brazil wouldn't do that

2002: World champions France lost their first match.

2018 World champions Germany lost their first match.

The Curse of being reigning world champions and losing first match has struck again! After losing the opening match: France, Italy and Spain failed to progress from the group stage. Germany are unlikely to progress from group stage. 

Sweden 1-0 Korea
Belgium - Panama 4-0
Tunesia - England 0-3

Sweden 0 - 2 South Korea
Belgium 2 - 0 Panama
Tunisia 0 - 1 England (that's right, not a borning draw like most expect)

I'm a bit nervous about that world cup Tbh with all the domestic shootings going on. I don't trust somebody who's going crazy with easy access to assault rifles won't target the event.

Especially after being in Russia which right now feels like the safest country in the world. St petersburg and Moscow anyway. 

Swedens inability score combined with their rather solid defense I have a hard time seeing this game not end with 0-0 or a 1-0 win for either team.

But would happily be proven wrong as long as Sweden is on the winning side ;P

World cup has been a tragedy for my wallet after not even the first round. Had alot of money on Argentina, Brazil and Germany. Still I enjoy these suprises but I cant see this going for long. (Although I hope Mexico and Iceland come really really far.)
