Forums - Microsoft - State of Decay 2 - Review Thread MC: 68 OC: 69

There comes a point when the game just needs to release.

They probably thought both had a larger chance of success outside the more busy later part of the year, where they will presumably have other games ready for release.

I don't deny that, Sea of thieves can probably make more money with micro transactions alone, and state of decay was probably really low budget. But than you get crack down which was announced in 2014 and probably has had a worse development cycle than scale bound still coming. I know not every game gets the same treatment. It's just something interesting to think about.

Is it likely to get many more? Or is this around where it will settle?

I'm surprised he admitted that Tbh but fair play for his honesty.

yeah I heard the podcast as well.  he also admitted the game felt more like a remake of the first state of decay than a sequel and that he was disappointed on that regard.

I'm surprised by that considering they had much bigger resources this time around.

Metro Game Central usually eats games like this up, while giving an extremely low score to anything that without mainstream appeal, like JRPGs. And yet, even they hated this game. o.0

I have to wonder, is Microsoft releasing these games like sea of thieves and state of decay knowing they weren't ready because they really believe in the Rainbow Six treatment with their games as a service thing, so in the long run they don't think the way these games will launch will hinder it in the future.

Both these games were meant to be always online type of experiences. So it would make sense that they launch these games a little sooner than normal only to make review scores obsolete by updating the game over years. Nintendo did the same strategy with Splatoon and it worked. The difference is that Splatoon was a good game at launch, and eventually became an amazing game with updates. SoT, and SoD2 are sub-par games, that might become decent with updates. But will MS charge for those updates, or make them free like Nintendo did with Splatoon?

User reviews are only 3.7 which suggests it's not just the reviewers dissatisfied.

It suggests user reviews are still a waste of time and should never be given even an ounce of credibility :)

All DLC for Sea of Thieves will be free.

State of Decay 2 is filled to the brim with content for a 30 dollar game, if they can patch out all the bugs and give the game more polish, it should be fine. The content DLC's for the game are paid, if I recall correctly.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Man the previews were not kidding about the night time, it gets fucking DARK. Awesome.

Huh? Are you saying I shouldn't trust this 0 out of 10 score given by an user called Kerotan for example?

Hmm, that's lower than I was expecting. I didn't expect the game to be great or anything, but 68 is pretty low.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

lol, it even has the lame “MS is in a state of decay” comment. It’s either him or someone from here. Reminds me of someone else who used to post here and on GAF, there was a thread on GAF about MC user scores and he posted in it about how biased they were, then someone linked to some of his own reviews giving all PlayStation games 10’s and the others 0’s. It was hilarious.

“i have no ideia why i bought this game ,Dude this looks like a ps1 game wtf, never gonna play it again, refunded.”

I haven’t read many of them but that’s probably my favorite so far.
