switch got destroyed this month, being out sold be 30% by ps4, and losing to xbox, that looks like losing momentum to me,

You know that 30% higher from 200k-230k is ~60k? Wich is ~15k higher from every week. That's far from being DESTROYED by the competition.

And lol at people making a deal about the console age, like if people go to store "hey, how old is this console? What?! 4 years? Ugh, that's like my grandma age in console years... No deal"

So you’re saying that a console’s age doesn’t matter? That consoles can keep selling forever?

I dont know about you guys, but the Switch is infinitely up YoY. Doesnt look like it's losing momentum.

The problem with infinity is that you can only go down from there!

I guess this is what happens when a console doesn't have 3rd party support, it loses out against 4-year-old hardware.

You got to have a lineup of more than ports and 2d pixel art platformers.

Well if thats what you saying is true Switch wouldn't won so many NPD months from launch, including previous NPD month. Also, that 4-year old hardware last year had its best year in sale from launch, and maybe this year will be even better.

If it keeps getting games, sure. The PS2 was discontinued after 13 years. The 3DS is still going. With the Pro and X, it's only gonna get longer.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

The sad part of Switch losing is that the people that wont shut up about "Switch losing momentum", amazon being useless and all that, will get reinvigorated by this result. So instead of having actual discussion about the results and what might have prompt it, we will have a small console war. *sigh*

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.Overall, its nice to see that everyone is fairing well.Given that February has been a somewhat quiet month for everyone, as I dont recall any major game that wasnt a port of some kind releasing, its good to see that the PS4 didnt lose steam just yet.Probably an after effect of MH World and Dragon ball that drove the sales past the other two.And it just goes to show that US is the most competitive market in terms of brand appeal.

Anyway, March will be an interesting month for Switch, given Kirby release. We know that Kirby is popular in Japan and will drive sales there, but we still need to see how much of an impact it can create elsewhere. As for software, hope that we get more info, but the usual suspects keep selling, so thats also nice to see.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

How was amazon not wrong?

Amazon wasn't wrong. They were reporting numbers based on their sales, not making predictions for NPD. Amazon wasn't wrong, the people speculating are.

^----this----^

I think people forget that there are other department and online stores out there other than Amazon that sell game consoles. I get it. You'de think that Amazon is the largest most popular shopping method for videogames and that it at least sets a trend to other retailers. But it's not. You have moms and aunts with wicked credit card skills on Amazon.com just slaughtering the shopping cart button but it still doesn't always make up for the other consumers walking into GameStop Target or Walmart and getting there purchase there that would of course not reflect Amazon's numbers.

I think the reason for the PS4 winning last month's NPD is more because of Monster Hunter World than what you're claiming.

This is VGChartz, the console wars are going to continue no matter who wins or loses

I think the releases for Nintendo this year have been far too dry. Not sure if they were expecting more 3rd party support by now but I think that's going to hurt them a bit. Smash in 2018 is pretty great and will definitely push some systems but it seemed like practically everything else in the Direct was a port. They should really just halt 3DS game production and get all their dev teams on Switch games cause it's a desert other than indies for the most part.

It was always going to be a challenge to keep up the releases. Keep in mind that Nintendo had to halt WiiU development in order to have a strong launch for the Switch. Now they’ve gone 3.5 months between major releases.

The PS4 Pro is actually younger than 4 years old.
