First quarter of next year? lol too early for next gen.

Lol, this is such a dumb rumor. Sony is destroying this gen and the ps4 is still on fire from a sales perspective. Sony is also making money hand over fist right now with the Playstation division...so why would they launch a ps5 now...when they've never launched a new system only 5+ years into the current gen?

Well to be fair, that’s exactly what they did with ps2. 

PS1 Japan launch: December 3rd 1994. 

PS2 Japan launch: March 4th 2000.

That's true. I just find it hard to believe with the release of the PS4Pro and One X as well as how well the PS4 is selling that Sony is launching a new console in the beginning of 2019 (or 2019 period).

I agree, plus if it were to next year (Which I doubt) it would be Q4. I think the earliest we will see it is Q4 2020. 

Too early. This will just play into Microsoft's hands. A q1 PS5 would barely be more powerful than the X, if at all and the price advantage could be with them from the get go.

Yeah, not happening. This gen is just hitting its stride in terms of constant quality games coming out.

The PS4 is selling more numbers year on year and likely going to have its peak year in 2018. Sony aren't going to chop their own balls off by announcing a PS5 at E3 when they could easily be reaching 100+ million PS4s sold by holiday this year and much more in the next few years. The PS4 Pro came out just a little over a year earlier. That's Sony's way of padding out this gen even further.

The earliest I see a PS5 is fall of 2020, if not a year or two later.

Seeing that early 2019 launch date and BC with PS3 seems like the breaking point for this rumor. I don't really see that happening. Why would they even want to release it that early anyways?

That first "leak" is 7 months old and the guy was telling everyone "wait until PSX 2017" for calling BS.
