That's too bad. I don't agree with everything you say but you do come across as a very level-headed person who doesn't make things personal and aims to back up claims with evidence. The political threads needs more of that.
I do understand why you'd rather have those discussions elsewhere though.

Yeah, I've got a history of changing my mind, so maybe I'll come back eventually.

Sooner than later I hope.

It depends I guess. I would try to get some socialists to join these forums I guess, but I haven't done that because I don't know if that would be considered as brigading or be against the rules.
1. Fair enough.
2. I disagree, but I guess it depends on what you're trying to get out of it. There are some people who won't change their mind regardless of any evidence presented—best to avoid these people, especially since this category includes a lot of trolls. There are some people who won't change at all in their underlying beliefs, but who you might be able to talk around concerning specific policy (given new evidence or a new logical argument). There are some people who you have a chance to change their mind about underlying beliefs, but they won't ever come around to your socialist anarchy. You might be right that there's no one on this site you could "convert" to that view, so if that's your goal here then you're probably right to give it up. But that's not what I look for when I talk about politics.
3. It isn't ideal, but it's not that bad. It's better than talking, for instance, because you can take your time to put together a cohesive argument and it's easier to cite sources.

I haven't checked the site rules in a long time, but I think a safe rule of thumb would be: if you mean getting a bunch of people to sign up just to pile into a topic and agree with you against everyone, then don't do it. If you mean convincing a bunch of people to genuinely become long-term contributing members to the forums, then it's fine even if you are so successful that you end up "packing the court". If you are still worried, then the rules are right there!
