In all honesty, I am not aware of one being repealed outside of the prohibition one.

You're right. I looked it up, and the 21st Amendment is unique for being the only one to repeal a prior amendment. So, given the divide on simple gun control, the nature of the United States's political process and how difficult it is to get an Amendment passed anyway, any discussion on banning guns outright is essentially a waste of effort.

That said, I don't see how a better background check system would infringe on anyone's privileges. It won't stop gun violence, especially since personal responsibility will be the deciding factor in if children or teens have access to their parents's guns, but it will certainly help curb it somewhat.

Excellent.  Well said Medisti.

I keep putting it off. But I have to get a gun license soon. And possibly some guns before they make things 'controlled'. I want to have one for the sake of having it and nothing more. Havent had a robbery in any of the places ive lived over 25 years but obviously will have it locked away etc.

I love the people that just want guns gone. I think there needs to be a longer waiting period and it needs to be a federal law to have a license in every state before you can obtain any gun. But this is just me and I know very little on the matter.

Why, thank you. :)

Can we also take a moment to appreciate "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"? A poignant slogan that is technically true but falls into a logical fallacy. Guns are illegal in Australia and the UK, and it's true, only outlaws have guns there. But, because guns are so much harder to get, very few outlaws have them and gun violence is down greatly as a result. The career criminals of the underworld, the type of outlaws who are more likely to illegally acquire a gun, aren't the ones going into movie theaters and randomly shooting people.

Medi, I too would love to see a violence free world..But that hope is not realistic.  There is no utopia on planet Earth.  I live in the US, and all I can tell you is that , in my opinion, Americans will not sacrifice their 2nd amendment rights. For better or worse...

Yes. Nothing would make me happier than a world free of violence. But, if we took away the guns and knives, people would kill each other with stones. That said, the regulation of instruments that make it much easier to kill many and much quicker is a very good thing. No one is going to kill 30 people in two minutes with a small rock.

Again, you are 100% correct. You should be President of the USA. I like your logic.

I'm ten years away from being eligible, ha ha. Vote Medisti 2028

The 13th school shooting of the year? And people still won't stop and think that there is a real problem here with guns. Just basically, if other countries don't have this problem and we do, it means we are doing something wrong. All of this political crap is stupid. SOMETHING IS WRONG.

no one. Tragedy happens and both left and right in he political parties politicize it and then once that narrative runs out for both sides, they move on to the next big thing. Same thing will happen here. Left will cry for gun control and the right will say ''nah shush it'' and then we move on.

Many socialists support guns rights, it's the centrists that generally support gun control.

remember centrists are considered socialists in the US

There is a reason why you can't by grenades. Just apply this to these types of weapons. You can't predict when someone is going to go crazy and most people are to brainwashed to give a damn even if they could help these people before they go ballistic. So, prevent these guns from being at our schools and on our streets by banning them.

Unfortunately some people are so helplessly afraid of some made up boggie man that they can't even see that people are dying. These kinds of guns aren't saving anyone's life. Look at the damn data.
