It was in Development Hell since TechLand was supposed to develop make it but decided to do Dying Light instead, they gave it to Yager in 2012 and then the year that it was supposed to launch Deep Silver pulled Yager from development and gave it to Sumo Digital in 2016 and they had to basically restart the development of the game all over again.

Yes basically a move for them to acquire all the THQ IPs, this tells me that they have big plans for Saints Row and Red Faction and them getting the Dead Island IP is pretty big as well. I think that they are in good hands since both Darksiders 3 and Biomutant look great.
