Forums - Microsoft - Why does 360 suck in Japan?

if the XBOX360 sale are so weak in Japan this doesn't mean the XB360 is bad console no sales doesn't mean that look at the GameCube sales they are so so less comparing with the rest but it doesn't mean the GameCube sucks or something else no the one reason is the Japanese found out that the PS3 is better than the XBOX360 for them it's about taste or anything else look at me I'm a Nintendo fanboy but for me PS3 is better than XBOX360 not for the games' library or graphic no it's only like you know this feeling it's just like that.

PS3 better than XBOX360 and the japanese are more clever than us to understand it.

Microsoft should just give up on Japan and forget about wasting money on trying to sell what less than 2000 consoles a week in japan.

Sony and Nintendo are both Japan based and Microsoft is from America.
Also they don't make that many japanese games for 360.

Um no offense , but how does where your company started confirm what region(s) you target? That's like saying NA EU aren't going to buy the ps3/wii because they come from japan and won't have western targetted games. By what I've seen too the 360 has more japanese targetted games than both sony and nintendo.

The Wii has dozens of Japanese targeted games.  Where do you think games like Mario, Mario Party, Smash Bros, Mario Baseball, Zelda, and Mario Kart started out?  Also, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Wii Play are Japanese targeted.  They wouldn't have even made those games if they didn't think the Japanese would love them.  Nintendo usually tries to appeal to the Japanese market 1st.  Many of their series do well outside Japan.

OT: Maybe for the same reasons I don't like the 360 much.  It is big, expensive, the games are expensive, it breaks too much, I never really liked the first Xbox.  Also, the game selection is not too my taste.  It needs more Platformers, more mini-games, more party games, more casual games, and games that are really different from PS2 games in gameplay (not just graphics).

All the 360 has going for it in Japan is some JRPGs.  But JRPGs are also coming out for DS, PS2, Wii, and PSP so there is no need to buy a system just for a few RPGs.

because it's made by an American company, simple as.

Do we have to have a response thread to every negative PS3/360 thread we make?

OnTopic: have you guys seen the marketing for the 360 in Japan? that's why it sucks in Japan.

jessman dont refer to japanease peopel as "japs" thats racist

because, the japanese like sunshine, and frollicking bunnies, oh, and mermaids. So their natural pick was nintendo.

japanese don't buy american! Period.
They might like our food, style and stuff, but not with electronics and automobiles. They make better stuff. Same reason many Americans didn't buy Korean products for a long time - until they proved themselves. RROD didn't help - I don't see how Microsoft can sell 360s there. Even their next gen. will not sell - hopefully in another gen.

I hope they don't hold grudges

This business about Japanese not buying the 360 because it's American is a bunch of racist hogwash.

Japanese buy American electronics, clothing, snack foods, soft drinks, and more over their Japanese counterparts all of the time. Take Apple, for instance. There's no arguing they're 100% American, but Japanese hold the Macintosh and iPod in far higher regard than the VAIO and Sony's MP3 players, because Apple has long understood how to successfully market their products to the Japanese consumer.

The failure of the Xbox and Xbox 360 in Japan is specific to Microsoft and their fundamental, repeated inability to understand and properly target non-American audiences, not to mention the 360 developing a reputation regarding its reliability, which typically puts off European and Japanese consumers a lot more than it does Americans. It has zero to do with Microsoft being an American company. Zip. Nada.
