This business about Japanese not buying the 360 because it's American is a bunch of racist hogwash.
Japanese buy American electronics, clothing, snack foods, soft drinks, and more over their Japanese counterparts all of the time. Take Apple, for instance. There's no arguing they're 100% American, but Japanese hold the Macintosh and iPod in far higher regard than the VAIO and Sony's MP3 players, because Apple has long understood how to successfully market their products to the Japanese consumer.
The failure of the Xbox and Xbox 360 in Japan is specific to Microsoft and their fundamental, repeated inability to understand and properly target non-American audiences, not to mention the 360 developing a reputation regarding its reliability, which typically puts off European and Japanese consumers a lot more than it does Americans. It has zero to do with Microsoft being an American company. Zip. Nada.
