Kenzo, as far as I know, it's never been required to add minorities. But since I have never worked with government advertisers, I can't be sure of that.

The reason advertisers do it is simple: it shows diversity and frankly, white people either don't care or they get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that minorities are getting "their fair share" of "stuff", whatever that "stuff" might be. It's absurd, really, and somehow it just worked its way into things. You would think that targeting the intended demographic would be more effective but that just isn't the prevailing thought nowadays. Instead, we get everything from ancient Chinese men to disaffected youth to serial rapists in your average Wii commercial.

I mean, look at this. What does this ad say about anything other than "Look at how diverse we are, folks! And we're having fun with our diversity!"



Sad thing is, everyone does it nowadays. I guess by putting every demographic you can find in the same ad image, the less chance you have of offending anyone or alienating the one odd straggler from that demographic that *may* be interested in your product.

And before everyone jumps down my throat, I'm not saying that only white people should be in ads nor am I picking on the Wii. That's just a prime example of how modern advertisers are focusing on political correctness over focusing on targeting a core market. This applies to everything from socio-economic status to race to age to gender.

Well I both agree and disagree with different things this guy says. Its a fair critiscm but i think this guy needs to stop his moaning to be honest.

One other thing.  I was watching a BET special before, it was the worst poeple that did bad things to black people.  And atleast one if not more of them were black people fighting for equal rights.  The BET special ripped into these people. The guys were tired of black people getting into colleges and getting jobs when they were not the best educated or had less experience for the jobs over the white guys.

I will choose not to add my own comments, as i think a program that choose people fighting for equal rights as one of the worst things to happen to black people speaks for itself.

Listen, every group of people have members who fit a stereotype. After all, that's how stereotypes are often formed (though not always). You're basing an opinion that sounds as if you want the stereotype to back it up. Chances are you're missing many things those people around you are doing that don't fit that stereotype in the slightest bit, instead focusing solely on those things that do.

And, hate to break it to you, but that's racism.

Not that there's anything wrong with being.......Effimate......But not every RPG Hero has to have a softer, gentler side.

And why aren't we talking about the horribe anti-Spanish steriotypes in Resident Evil 4, and Anti-German steriotypes in many FPS games? After all, not every Spainard is a plage-infested, torch-wielding crazy, nor is every German a MP40-carrying Nazi deathmachine. Yet, I'd be willing to say 80-90 of all Germanic-Heritage NPCs in games are enemies, and always evil.

Lets test: Evil plague-wielding Spaniards, or community minded citizens?

Germans are so ridiculously stereotyped in video games that it's come to the point of unintentional comedy. 

Maybe i'm not the best at explaining my point as that seems to be what is happening here. I know not all black people fit the drug/street image of the black people i listed. That was just most of the black people i knew, i also knew alot of what poeple that have sold drugs, i for one did it before. The man i knew who came over from Africa went on to University, he has 5 kids, 3 of which are in University and the other two are still in high school. None of which fit the street image which i listed before.
