The Jump editors took a bunch of elements from popular shonen manga and threw them into a blender. It's the anime/manga equivalent of Walmart's store brand of soda. Doesn't mean that some people won't love it, of course, but it's as formulaic as they come.
In video-game terms, it's like a major release from Activision or EA with lots of money and marketing behind it that's intended for the mainstream Call Of Duty crowd.
