My pair came free with a magazine subscription. They have since gone up in price but $500 is a scalper type price. I would of thought $60-90 was possible.

Just checked they are about £50 in the UK and this would normally translate to about $50 in the US. 

They aren't cheap headphones but you don't need to pay anymore. It's just about the perfect sweet spot for maximum sound quality. Anything above is pretty much diminishing returns. 



I use a Hifiman HE-400s, I really like it.
The 400i is the model up, and if you could get them for the same price you should probably get the better model.
