Sega keeps changing the 3D Sonic formula because the 3D Sonic formula has never been. Now they stick to one of the not good formulas and fans are surprised it didn’t review well.

Most were excited about Generations 1.5. I do agree they should leave boost behind as its limited in what could be done for level design. I would rather they perfect the Lost World design.

Playing something amazing like Mario on the Switch, then looking at the 3D Sonic games and this game's reception so far makes me sad.

There was a time when Sonic stood toe to toe with Mario, I was even a Sonic fanboy in the Genesis era. However it seems like the jump to 3D was just not something that the Sonic Team could wrap their head around.

The times have certainly changed...

So many people thinking this looks like Generations. Really? It has the same layout, sure, because it's based on the same style. But the problem is the level design is poor. Are people missing that part in the reviews? Or the part about the character switching being clunky? People can play what they want but it's kind of sad when they're hell bent on a game due to some strange loyalty, even when it's a solid "not very good" title.

I suppose they're talking about platformers.

This game looked like crap from miles away. The true Sonic game was released months ago, don't bother with this one.

I’m gonna take a guess and say these reviewers weren’t playing with Boom the Jay, the best character in the game. Understandable they couldn’t appreciate it.

I lost hope for this once I saw that OC with the glasses

Someone explain the appeal to sonic to me. I've just never saw it. The games are easy as cake boring, linear, just nothing good about them at all. Even Generations the only Sonic game i thought was decent still was the same way. Just boring overall and Sonic isn't a very likable character at all. Hes pretty much a douchey 12 year old

Doesn't surpise me, it didn't looked specially good. But is really embarrasing for Sega, they said this time they were gonna make things right for real, they apologized with their fans for making so many bad Sonic games.... and then they do the same again lol

At least Sonic Mania was pretty good.
