I get the feeling that the N2DS XL is meant to outright replace the N3DS XL (already confirmed is select regions) so thats essentially a price cut to the premium model.

 

At $79/$149 the system is already quite cheap and we probably wont see any true price cuts until its about to be discontinued and retailers want to get rid of stock.

1.Historically we've seen Nintendo products catapult in sales when they receive a discount 

2.$59 is impulse buy territory, especially considering $59 is the average price for just one Switch game. 

3.The 2DSXL model is overpriced IMO and that's why it isn't moving units, cabinets at Target, Wal Mart, etc are full of these things collecting dust. 6 year old handheld hardware should not be $149, it's only $20 cheaer than the 3DS was in 2011. 

1. Thats only true in the earlier years of a systems life, not ~7 years after launch.

2. Yes, $59 is impulse territory but so is $79 for a console+game.

3. I agree that N2DS XL could get more people on board at $99 but still at this point in its life it wouldnt do much more than add 1-2 million to end of life sales.

update from benji, honestly it seems like the guy is all over the pace and is full of it.

"If the rest if the market plays out like my data

NPD for November will be pretty close / competitive between all 3 machines with all of them finding good success"

It's selling well, just not as well as NS or PS4, which mostly sold out by the end of BF.

On Amazon, it's beating a bunch of sold out or relatively very expensive consoles.

NS is not mostly sold out, and xbone s probably just way more stock, it's catching up to ps4 on amazon.

looks like even with X preorders ps4 coulcld be close or above. Not bad. No one has it in the bag just yet.

lol nobody knows how its playing out, there is no way they will all be close, switch won't even do over 900k. he goes from ps4 is nuking to lower your switch expectations, to they all will be close, guy is full of shit.
