I wouldn't discount it. Think about that scene and how ND layer emotions. Now think about that scene and remember Ellie's mother was pregnant in the poster. Now think about that scene and realise she was about to cut her belly open from right to left ... Because that would be a great emotional layer, I'm inclined to believe it is.

And maybe it's just me but she kinda looks like Ashley Johnson. I know Laura Bailey is playing this character but they could have done that to make this character and Ellie look the same to a certain extend.

More speculation. It doesn't look like Ellie in the least to be honest:
Ellie is immune and so we could also assume so is her mother. That means when the kid says she's 'one of them', he could actually be referring to 'the infected'. We also know that Ellie's mother is pregnant in the poster. If the boy is indeed referring to 'infected' then other people may also know she's infected and yet has not shown any symptoms. Some people may well know she's 'immune'. The woman was about to cut her belly open ... It's not a big stretch to assume they also believe her unborn child will also be immune. That could be why Ellie was given to the Fireflies to protect.
That means these people are not Fireflies and there is another enemy out there seeking the cure.
And something not entirely unrelated: What if this other group is the group Joel ran with? The bitter irony would be almost too hard to take.
