Forums - Gaming - GT Sport: Sony Are Idiots

Remember when gamers jumped on Xbox for offering always online Xboxes.. remember the hate they received at E3? Oh now Sony do it within there own games.. where's the hate? I think this is the first thread I read where someone actually picked up on it.

How do I play GTS in a nuclear Submarine if I don't have internet? Sub reference was based on the orginal XB1 always online saga.

The reason why games turn out like this is because this industry is full of double standards. Dont hate on one, hate on all and you will see companies take different appoaches and improve.

This happens on both sides and as part of the gaming industry, fans need to unify as one. Instead all i read is Xbox always online sucks, Backwards Compatible is worthless, Crossplay is not important and when Sony does it or doesnt do it, it gets ignored. That right there is the problem. Thats the fans mulding there own future.

I think you're stretching that comparison a tad. The Xbox debacle was in large part an issue of scale; they wanted everything to be always online. In comparison, GT Sport is 1 majority online game forcing you to also be online for the other bits too. It should absolutely still be criticised for that (and we're seeing that here), but it's not a double standard for people's reaction to be relative to scale.

They better patch the hell out of it.

Ah the irony. Needing an internet connection to play a game without the internet.

Welcome to the future.... coming soon refridgerators with internet and if internet is down you cant open it.

I enjoyed the demo, so I bought it. Plus I'm a VR junkie.

But I agree it's pretty shitty, always online and 1v1. I already lost progress in the demo due to a disconnect. Not that it matters since all progress is reset while they said it would carry over?!

Sony are idiots for not making GT Sport a poster child for VR, at least on pro they could have done better.
Losing progress when disconnected is even worse. What kind of cheats were people using in GT6 that they've become this paranoid. Have a separate online garage you can also use offline yet not vice versa, problem solved.

It has a manual save option in the menu, "cannot save game, server not available" f you.
Would leaving it on keep your progress? (What is this, 1987?)

First impressions. Showed up as ps4 format disc. 54GB free wasn't even enough to show the disc icon... Now it's downloading a 12.3GB day 1 patch. I love this gen!

Sony as an entity is one singular entity. So you'd want Sony "is". Sony IS an idiot.
Or Sony executives are idiots.

That said -> are there any sources that say SONY chose this as opposed to Polyphony,? Both have the ony in them sure.

I have had no interest in this series ever, but it seems odd they chose to go online only. Curious the reason.

Polophony is an unique entity when it comes to game studios , this is  because they are a subsidury of Sony and have their own board and  chairman and because they are run as a seperate company. that's why they unlike other studios show official sales figures for GT on their website and list their operating capital because of  this structure  and their success they tend to do what the hell they want.

I hope this game bombs critically and commercially.

We deserved a real GT7 after 4 years, not a half assed online only Prologue.

I always said it from day 1 that GT Sport was a glorified prologue.  Normally they would do a prologue with less content then Sport but charge €40 for it.

Instead they went for a beefier prologue this time under the name sport so people wouldn't look at it like they wold a prologue game.  The extra content they provided is to justify a $60 price instead of €40.

I fully believe within the next 2 years we get a GT7. I just hope Sony are smarter this time and port it for the ps5 at launch.

I've always liked Gran Turismo but I don't think I'll ever buy this game. I wonder if we'll ever get an actual Gran Turismo 7.

So basically, The Pokémon Compagny in a lesser extent

Pretty much except unlike the pokemon company, they are fully   owned by Sony but set up as a subsiduary.

Cant remember specifics but you could revert the game to a previos version or something in which certain cars that werent supposed to exist in that version could be sold for stupid amounts of in game credits which iirc Sony try to sell as microtransactions. So it basically killed their microtransaction sales for the game
