Forums - Gaming - You guys NEED to play Darkest Dungeon, i just thought yall should know

Having a quick glance at all the feedback on Steam (bit more negative than I thought) and the Metacritic reviews, this seems like the best summary of the game courtesy of Destructoid-

"Despite the grind, despite the perhaps undue commitment to brutality, and despite what I feel is a joke at the player's expense at the end, Darkest Dungeon still manages to be one of the most engaging and intriguing roguelikes I've ever played and I'll probably still be diving dungeons and trying new party compositions weeks from now. After all, it would be madness to stop at this point." (80/10)

Lol, you kinda just defeated your own reason for not considering it so that leaves you with only 1 option as i see it........BUY IT NOWWA!

How did I defeat my reason? He's still a good youtuber, just not my favorite in the analysis community.

So no.

I wasnt trying to harsh you bro, i found it funny that in just two sentences you made a somewhat contradictory point. First you stated that this specific youtuber said it was mediocre, then you say "then again......", usually "then again" is kind of an indicator for said person to rethink his original statement/idea or whatever. Its all good though, you seemed offended so dont worry about it, just stick to what you know.

Im beginning to get that whole despair shit going on but like i originally said and Desteuctoid said it even better, its so engaging so as to override any somewhat pitfalls or overly brutal mechanics, im paraphrasing of course. To me at least, videogamed are at their best when i am fully engaged and committed, so few games capture me anymore that i am happy to see one that can make me put down Overwatch and get lost in its new world.

It seems like you know very little about the game and now that you're caught with your pants down because you  made a thread too early practically marketing a game, you're falling back on positive summaries for the game.

Play the game more and make a thread, or do an "early impressions" of sorts that isn't too exaggerative about the game. I made a Horizon thread, and even though 99% of what I said was accurate and I was 18 hours into the game, I still felt like I should have waited till I finished the game to make the thread, because more problems arised as I continued.

I've heard it's mediocre by an analyst on youtube.

Then again he's not the best youtuber but it put me off the idea of the game.

Analyst? On youtube?

Wouldn't a more accurate description be "some random numpty"?

I don't believe in an appeal to authority, so no, not really.

He's not too bad, but he spends half the video as if he's giving a tutorial on how to be a reviewer, rather than just reviewing the game. Starts to feel a bit patronising.

Also seemed pretty cynical and jaded about it.

Just another meh indie game. Not worth the hype.

Hunting Season is done...

Darkest Dungeon and Hollow Knight are going to be my first 2 e-shop purchases when i get a Switch. they sound so good and their art style couldn't be better.

Not sure what crawled up your butt but you seem angry or something. I didnt make this thread too early at all, the more i play the more i love it, all the points i said are actual points describing an experience, unless the game drastically changes its basic formula then nah, ive gathered close the what im going to gather 30 hours in.

Lastly, im not falling back on anything. I have no idea how you people read so much into shit. Im just responding to what he said being that i found destructoid said pretty much what i already stated and feel minus a few. If you notice, he also said that there were surprisingly many negative reviews, if i would be so fickle as to "fall back" on this one positive review then you can be damn sure that id be so inclined to see all those negative reviews hes talking about and let that affect me as well in terms of whether i purchase it and maybe even inform me after.

Maybe next time you should take better consideration of what i wrote. I deliberately chose my points to make and none of them are exaggerated, in fact, how could you even use that term if you havent fuckin played it, you would have no clue if i was exaggerating or not would ya.

You also let 1 single youtuber inform your decision albeit a respected one and you are trying to claim some misjudgment, fickleness and lack of knowledge on my part, seems ironic.

I disagree but fair enough. I can see how this game could be way more niche them even your typical indie title
