The only thing that really helped me to change many self-sabotaging mental (mind and emotional) patterns that I had was the use of specific tools that I learned through a free online course. These tools are self-honest writing, self-forgiveness and self-correction. One basically has to understand one's mind, get to know oneself and how one created a specific experience/emotion, before one can change and transform the pattern into a corrective behaviour that one would like to live. It's not hard, just takes some dedication and practice. by using these tools I got rid of many fears, anxieties and emotional turmoils. I had very low self-esteem for example and was very shy, not any more. I know a girl who healed her bulimia with these tools.
