They are just floating rumors to try to decrease demand so people will wait for the price cut that isn't coming...

Just insane. Not going to happen.

Can't meet demand now - and with Brawl, MK & WiiFit yet to hit?

Production would have to be... more than doubled? For this to make sense.

No on all accounts.

Nintendo of Europe has told GamesIndustry.biz that reports of an impending Wii price cut are "rumour and speculation."

European site Jeux-France has reported that the console with a copy of Wii Sports is to be reduced this May to EUR 149, while a Mario Kart Wii bundle will be introduced for EUR 199.

In Europe, the Wii Sports pack currently retails for EUR 249. Mario Kart Wii is due for release this Friday.

Why, that would be kinda foolish. Mario Kart, Wii Fit and Smash for the spring and a pricecut as well?

Around the Network

It would seem foolish but if you think about it if Nintendo increased production to say 2.5 million a month(a big increase) and reduced the price to say 150-200 then Sony and MS would have too follow suit or be priced out of the market. This would start a price war and the only winner would be Nintendo due to the Wiis cheap production costs. PS3 would lose heaps of money and 360 would continue to struggle because of more Wiis being available and at a cheap price. If it did happen johnlucas's 60m by the end of the year might actually be plausible(thanks mythbusters).

Its not going to happen... Why Nintendo would have a price cut?

Yes, a bundle cost more than the separate things (50€ for mario kart?).

That should have been the first sign that this is nonsense.

Also why cut the price by 100€ not by 50€ first?

Help me Ronda, that is so insane its more BS than a rumor.

This is stupid BS to me.
This can't happen because :
- this would put the Wii at the price of the DS @_@
- the DS Lite didn't have a price cut in 2 years, is not likely to get one, and the Wii is not even 2 years old
- the Wii is still supply constrained, or they last just the time for the next shipment to arrive
- Nintendo never do that, and releases new colors before cutting price
- some big games are coming in April, May, June here

I have to admit that if it's true, I just can't understand the move at all.

There is no way they are dropping the price right now, especially by 100 euros. That just isn't happening. 360's price cut and Ps3's bundles have done nothing to the sales of the Wii in EU, or anywhere else for that matter. Nintendo isn't just going to throw away money.
