I lucked out that I didn't had to pass the same hassle than you guys.

But perhaps the game is teaching you that on online there will be guys hunting your tails =]

As I said earlier to Svennoj, the way to go on the challenges seems to do early breaking when you want to pass (so you don't risk a late breaking, passing and them have the AI hitting you) and late breaking when avoiding being past (or very early breaking while closing the door to be completely sure the AI won't be able to pass you, this is how some F1 racers do to make sure they take out the wind of the car behind).

I guess the game is trying to teach me to ignore the driving line and stay close to the side of the apex while entering the corner, then go wide accelerating out. The problem with the AI is that it nudges up to your inside in the corner against the back of your car, which causes the spin out. I don't know if that's a valid move in motorsport, maybe it is. Pretty shitty though. Basically the AI does as I'm suggesting which intersects with the path of any car taking the corner in a proper way. If your inside the pack that's what will happen when you fend of the AI behind you, you'll be hitting the car in front.

But true, that's what people do online, using you as their guard rail to get around a corner. Which requires the same solution, be on the opposite side of the driving line when entering the corner to keep the door closed. Ofcourse you won't be making up any time to the car in front.

Late braking didn't help, the AI still used me as a bumper unless I go off track on the corner exit. One of the challenges I had enough of the AI and did the same to them which worked really well as it always has. Using cars to get around corners is something I wanted gone from GT. Funny thing, I did get big penalties for driving like an ass, yet those don't count for completing the challenge. I was officially in 3rd after the penalties, still got gold for passing the finish line first. I thought GT Sport was supposed to teach good driving!

Well in some movies I watched there is always some cheater that will do small bumps on the hear to cause people to spin. But I think that is considered a penalty. The AI when alone do the proper corner line, but sometimes when you do the line against them and aren't fast enough they will hit you. But with me in GT it only happens when I do too much breaking or early braking. Perhaps I'm already dangerous driving =p

Well I was pissed on the Interlagos challenge and cut the chincane after the start line straight... worked wonders, though I would zero the penalty during the lap, but couldn't zero it, so I lost position, still got gold =p

People were doing that online as well which caused the chaos at the start every time. A penalty that you can shave off during corners isn't a deterrent. Plus I don't get why the game didn't ghost out the people taking the shortcut. Hopefully they're still tweaking the penalty system and take the results of the beta into account. Or it becomes like Le Mans in GT5, just ignore the chicane online. That will be fun in Monza too.

Perhaps some better feedback on SR rating could help. Heavy penalty for short cuts without getting bumped right before could be a better deterrent or at least weed out the cheaters :)

A small bump wasn't the problem btw, the AI was actively pushing my back out, powering through the corner. Perhaps I should turn the line on, see if I'm doing something wrong and they're simply stuck to the suggested driving line. I also couldn't figure out why it suggested the handbrake in the stadium rally challenges. The only way to get gold for me was to break early, go wide first, and keep speed up through the corner without any wheel slide. Drifting was always slower. Outdoor was a lot easier, stick to the gravel and you're fine.

Well I found it strange as well, some corners small mistakes reduced the penalty, but on very sharp and slow corner you could erase up to 5s of penalty only on the normal braking.

Chicanes are straights that bend, haven't you heard that?

I do hope they do deep analysis and bring a good solution. But there is a difference between hard bump or after touching put a lot of acceleration on your hear (this second one I don't think happened because wouldn't make a corner possible since you are already driving fast).

About the handbrake, that was totally obtuse, never managed a good drift with it on the stadium so I done just like you after checking on net if that was how people were doing ( I had got bronze by normal braking, but lost 3-5s using handrbrake)
