I think they would sell off parts & IP's before going under.
I think they would sell off parts & IP's before going under.
hahaha Good question. I think all Capcom Games would be exclusives on Nintendo´s Systems so...
Pokemon + Monster Hunter Exclusive= Japan dominated
Street Fighter + Marvel vs Capcom + Smash Bros # + SB Meele = EVO dominated
Resident Evil = Best Survival Horror Game exclusive on Nintendo´s Systems
DMC + Megaman + etc = important Exclusives AAA on Nintendo´s Systems
But Capcom is Capcom, it would be very expensive to Nintendo
I'd be surprised if MHXX switch gets to 500k, it was a flop

How crazy do you think Japanese Monster Hunter fans are? I'd be surprised to see it do 1 million in the long run. |
Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate sold nearly 2 million units on 3DS alone. 3DS did about 20 million consoles sold in Japan. Lifetime Switch sales in Japan are going to crush lifetime 3DS sales in Japan. MH XX has the advantage over MHTU, because the graphics and controls on the 3DS weren't console quality. Playing MHTU on 3DS, with any reliable controls, requires you to either own a New 3DS model with the second analog, or get an attachment.
Edit: Wait nevermind. XX is on 3DS too. I thought just X (Generations in the west) was on 3DS.
It wont go under but i like the idea of predicting who would buy what
Nintendo - Everything
2018 Hit List: Shadow of the Colossus, Detroit, Dreams, Spider-Man, God Of War, Days Gone, Medievil, Tomb Raider 3, RDR2
I took a quick look at their financials, and Capcom seems to be dong fine. So I am not really sure why this question came up.
Anyway, Capcom's IPs are pretty valuable, I would think. They also do a lot of other stuff with them that most other developers do not, like license them for movies. I very much doubt one company would be able to buy up all of their properties in the case that they go under.
Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic
Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)
Now,in a scenario where capcom start to sell his ip's i have 2 strong guesses.
1: sony would buy monster hunter(they can't allow the risk of nintendo with the switch and monster hunter free in japan) and
2: nintendo would buy Mega man(it's a platform, they sell well on nintendo systems and they can easily hire inti creates to produce the games).
My best guess is that they would merge with another company ala Bandai/Namco.
My hope would be that Nintendo buys them out.

Here's hoping that they eventually just get bought out by Sony.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

No one is going to buy Capcom, and then have to pay even more to restructure the entire company for profitability. The only thing ppl are going to want are IPs and even then, the likes of Nintendo and Sony arent going to buy a bunch of them up as much as fans of both would want them to.
Disney offed their gaming division. They arent sinking money into another company (who would have failed to be in this position to be bought) |
What games does Disney have that people really want now to keep a dedicated game company. None. But MVC is one that would be a good reason.
