Forums - Gaming - Did you buy a ps3 or 360 just because you thought buying a wii is kiddy?

Buying consoles based on peer pressure is extremely immature.

That seems like a poor reason to not buy a console. That seems like something that would happen in high school. Don't buy it because you don't like the games, or the motion control, or the lack of HD..........not because someone's going to make fun of you.

Believe it or not the motion controls for the wii really turned me off. I am normally an axis of innovation but when I play video games I'd rather sit and unwind then stand up and and execute the motions. I always thought that was half the point of video games anyway. If you are going to make throwing motion with your hand when playing a football ball game, You might as well go outside and play real football.

I just wanted to take this time to welcome you to the forum. I was just thinking that things were getting a bit stale and it would be nice to get some more quality posters and here you are like an answer to a prayer.

Certainly not.

While certain members here may jump on you for a seemingly silly thread, I think it is a valid question for some. I'm a teacher in a junior high school and I've often heard kids poke fun of others for owning such a 'kiddie' console. Of course, it's immature, but hey, they're kids. The reality is though, that yes, people would avoid getting a wii becuase of that fear, no matter how silly that actually is.

nope, got my ps360 peer pressure free.

That's good. Caving into peer pressure is one of the cornerstones of being a child. It builds character. It will prepare them for later in life when they have to cave into their spouses, bosses and children. Let them learn early that it's better to cave.

Well, i have a 360 and a wii. I think i overestimated how good the games were going to be for the wii. While semi-enjoyable...if i were to go back id have prolly just stuck with the 360.

Like the Gamecube all over again... except this time Wii has the oldest user base, 360 has the youngest, so shouldn't kids worry it's an old man's system or perhaps a girlie system?

Seriously, I can see where the 'kiddie' image may come from (Mario vs Master Chief) but it's such a distortion of the facts.
