The SNES Classic.
The other day, my SNES Classic arrived, however I am currently playing Nier: Automata, so I decided to do the only rational thing.
I loaned my SNES Classic to my 13 year old brother and the rest of my family for a week or so as I want to really dig into some of the games on the system, and want them to get my full attention.
Much to my surprise my brother (who typically plays Minecraft, GTAV and Kerbal Space Program type games on his PC) actually had spent an extended period of time in some of the games.
I actually played my first match of Street Fighter II, I picked Chun-Li (In honor of VGPolyglot) and mopped the floor with him.
The XxX does not really appeal to my brother, but the SNES Classic, seemed to capture his attention.
I think Xbox's marketing of the XxX as the most powerful console is incorrect.
The SNES Classic will be played by children who are not old enough for real games (In the eyes of their parents), this will help Nintendo cultivate nostalgia in a whole new generation of consumers,
It is my belief that the SNES Classic addresses an issue that is multiple console generations ahead of present day, where as the XxX only addresses the next 3 years or so.
I think the impact of the SNES Classic will be more widely felt ten years form now than the XxX, and therefor the SNES Classic is more powerful.
