Forums - Sony - PS4 Pro: Witcher 3 4K NXGamer Analysis.

From GAF:

Guys, I can confirm that we are getting 4K on the edges!

Thanks to Tinúviel and his perfect screenshots, I was able to pixel count and get a definite, beautiful, 2160p pixel count!

Here is the image if you want to count it yourself

My line is 30 pixels up

The math, for people unaware looks like this:

Draw 30 pixels up from a pixel "staircase"

Skip a pixel up and across like I did in the photo

Continue drawing a line sideways, until you hit another staircase

Count each staircase between the sections you marked

In our case, it happens to be 30 staircases

Now, you divide the staircases you counted from the amount of pixels you drew upwards at the start so:

30/30= 1

then you take that number and multiply it by the resolution of the photo

1 x 2160= 2160

Great news. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d actually prefer if people would start to enjoy their games again, without having to look at Digital Foundry. I respect them but their service is becoming more and more cancerous to gaming as a whole.

Played this game for nearly a full year and it easily became my favorite game ever. Even delved into the both DLCs. Now, I'm jumping I'm all over again!

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

What's cancerous about blowing up an image by 800% just to focus upon a jagged edge that would be impossible to distinguish with the naked eye and then declaring it the most significant aspect of the gaming experience? :)

Same here. Many of the things people 'can't stand' on GAF (even with a pic attached), I need some kind of pointer to find out what I'm supposed to be looking for. And even then I have a problem finding it. It's anal.

It’s incredible I still didn’t have the time to play both DLCs. I should just quit playing everything else and start immediately : ) it’s my favourite franchise ever for sure.

I also pixel counted native 4K (3840x2160) on 2 pics posted in the Neogaf thread.

So maybe it's checkerboard? Don't think it would hit 4X the resolution compared to base PS4.

Hopefully Digital Foundry releases analysis video tomorrow.

The geomentry (edges) are 4K while the textures are checkerboarded by the looks of it. Similar to Gravity Rush 2.

Hmm, I expected this to be a hasty patch job and Battlefront 2 to be an impressive optimization. Looks like I may be wrong on both counts (I really, really hope Dice does something more with Battlefront 2, in its current state on my 1080p projector screen it's rough). The Witcher, though, looked quite good from what little I played of it.

Amazingly, the Witcher 3 patch seemed to remove much of the game's chromatic aberration, which is my main problem with the Battlefront 2 Beta. It's so bad in that game that my eyes start to ache after a half hour or so of playing it.
