Nice convenience update, not enough to buy a new one though. I did just buy a 4K HDR tv this weekend but since it's in a different room than where I prefer to play VR games, HDR pass through won't help. I still need to bring the console over to the tv anyway. I don't play with headphones either.
What I would like is a move hw update, at least add analog sticks to those suckers. Or the option to add a second camera for improved tracking.

Btw, any recommendations what looks best in 4K HDR on the pro?

Normal games? For my money, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Horizon Zero Dawn. Sometimes I just look at those two in awe.

Ha, I've just been staring at HZD in awe. Looks amazing in 4K/HDR. Not enough of a difference to play the whole game again but it does make my projector look like hot garbage. Size or amazing pq, first world problems :)

I had a bit of a scare first. All I got was glimpses of a screen occasionally flashing with static but mostly black. It turned out to be a non hdmi 2.0a compatible cable. I swapped all my cables around so the Switch and Snes mini now have the 'shitty' cables and the ps4 and ps4 pro have the new cables.

The stars, the moon, and all the details in the dark crystal clear, skies perfectly visible with the land during the day. the next non vr game I play will be on this tv. Ah the sun is coming up again in game, beautiful. HDR does make a big difference.

I just wish I could use my Vive with the PSVR library lol... the VR market has become partitioned so quickly! :p

The one thing I liked from the psvr over the vive is that it's more comfortable, but they've released something for the Vive that almost closes that comfort gap.

I want better resolution and full 360 degree movement, then I will buy your beloved PS4 VR experience.

You have full 360 degree movement, just not with a motion controller :/

I played RE7 standing and sitting, both worked perfectly fine no matter how many times I spun around. Standing was the best way to beat Jack on MadHouse difficulty. Don't trip on the cord though...

I want better motion controllers. The lack of analog sticks on them is creating a divide between smooth motion and natural interaction. I use both in the solus project as a compromise, move in left hand, ds4 in right hand. Not ideal. I've though about attaching the right move to the ds4 with elastic bands since it tracks that one for strafing. Building a frankenstein controller since Sony didn't have the foresight to add analog sticks :(

Don't you have this for your right hand ?

Looks like I will be handing my old headset over to my brother and picking up this model. The HDR pass through is going to be very nice. I have probably swapped HDMI cables 500 times in the last year. Will be great to be able to go from playing Horizon: The Frozen Wilds or Battlefront in HDR, and jump straight into Gran Turismo Sport or Bravo Team, without having to go behind the TV swap connections.

An upgrade only 1 year after the initial launch? Great, now do the same thing with the things that actually matter, like your console.

They do release yearly updates to the consoles. We had PS4 CUH-1000 in 2013, CUH-1100 in 2014, CUH-1200 in 2015, PS4 Slim CUH-2000 and PS4 Pro CUH-7000 in 2016, and CUH-2100 and CUH-7100 models are hitting the stores right now 2017.

A lot of the times the 100 series improvements are very minor, but the CUH-1200 saw a significant power and noise decrease over the 1000 & 1100 models thanks to improvements in RAM. I would guess the improvements will be small this year, with more noticable improvements in 2018, followed by a CUH-3000 and CUH-8000 in 2019, and hopefully a CUH-1000 PS4 Premium.

I mean actual upgrades. You know, technology doesn't stop and each year hardware gets about 20-30% stronger, which can be the difference between 30 and 60fps or stutter and no stutter. I commend Sony for trying to go into the right direction but it won't be enough until they make it a regular thing and cut the "generations" bullcrap.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The game wants two move controllers, but since it also accepts input from the ds4 I can try to see what happens when I connect that as well. I can't remember if that's actually a motion controller or not, dunno if that could work for rotation orientation for strafing.

Ha ha. Playing VR games in HDR...

My eyes will die before I'm 40.

EDIT: Forget I said anything... Seems like HDR won't go through the VR headset... It's only so you don't have to keep messing around with your HDMI cable to get HDR through the actual PS4 console. This was a big oversight on Sony's and should have been in the VR module from day one. Kind of giving early adopters the shaft.

Aw man.. VR is becoming a thing now. :(

Still tho. Summer Lessons.
