Can't wait for the Switch port

240p 20fps. Back to the 3ds era!

Can't say I am surprised considering the performance on pc

Seeing benches with the likes of a 1080ti, Titan X and Titan XP make the game look like such an utter mess. The devs bit off way more than they could chew. I knew it was going downhill when they thought it was an excellent idea to focus more on cramming as much content as they could into the game, while saving optimization crunch time till a few weeks before release, which they couldn't even handle because they had to delay the game even further which didn't pay off at all in the end.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

is this the same mob that charged dlc for a game in early access?

yup. Same ones that also hiked up the price before final release as well.

Does anyone here know the technical reason why the stats are so poor?

They put far, far too much focus on simply adding more and more content into the game, than to simply add a bit of content and optimizing said content, making sure it works properly with the rest of the game and then moving onto the next few steps. They kept doing it their way and tried to "optimize" the game a few weeks before the original release date, but even then they ended up delaying it (while hiking up the price), which didn't pay off in the end. They never even bothered with DX 12 at all. As far as I can see, it's still on their promise list (which I imagine half has been scrubbed away by now).

Conan Exiles is another open world crafting RPG, but at least those devs are putting focus on their game in sizable chunks, rather than adding and adding till game performance grinds to a halt. I get far better performance with Conan Exiles than I do Ark, which is hilarious, considering Ark has had 2 years under it's belt to sort out the performance.

Let this be an example of what technical perils a game will face when using UE4 LOL ...

Not too surprised, I been playing ARK on my PC for over a year now and it's the most resource-demanding game I have.

Worse than the resolution is they want $60 for the game.

Yikes. What kind of rig would be required to hit 4k 30fps in this game? 4 Titan Xp's all in SLI?

Basically the game has two modes on PS4 and Pro; detail (higher res, lower framerate) and normal. (Lower res, higher framerate)

At normal, PS4 runs at 640p and Pro at 720p. In detail mode, PS4 is 720p and Pro is 1080p. Xbone One doesn't offer this option and is locked to 720p.

That is absolutely garbage. Sub-HD is not acceptable.

Pro still struggles to maintain 1080p30, with a choice between running at 720p with wildly fluctating frame rates (15/20/30/60), or 1080p30 with screen tearing when it drops below.

Perhaps XBox One X can maintain 1080p30 with this mess.

This is a terribly unoptimised mess.

If it's a CPU limitation, then the Xbox One X might be able to push ahead... But I wouldn't hedge any bets.

To top it all off... They are using the Unreal Engine! Unreal Engine has a really good development pipeline.
How they could stuff it up on this front is astounding considering the engine they are using.

I think the real interesting test will be with the long term support.

Lol, when I first saw resolution I was thinking its resolution for handheld and dock mode for some game for Switch.
It's really strange to see sub HD resolution on PS4 in 2017.
